So I went out to feed, and I saw that there were ducks, baby ducks in the coop, and I was like, Dang it. I forgot my phone, so I went ahead and did my chores. I went back to the house, grabbed my phone. was out there doing photo shoots with them and heard peep peep from the barn, but it couldn't have been from inside the coop, and I found this little girl. So I'm thinking that Jackie hatched her out and she followed Jackie out to the yard. And she ( hope it's a she) couldn't figure out how to get back into the coop. What I have observed is that the ducks can tell their kids to stay home while she walks out. But the chickens do not do that. So this chick followed her out and could not figure out how to get back in. So this chick followed Jackie out but couldn't figure out how to get back in. We have since set the brooder up for her. But as you can see from the pictures of the nest, there are a few other chicken eggs. The chicken eggs are the brown eggs. So maybe hopefully she'll hatch out a couple more chicks that I can put in the brooder with the first chick. Otherwise, I'll have to go buy some chicks from the store.

Fifteen new layers.. 5 leghorns, 5 mystic marans and 5 light bramas. Brandon was getting the room prepared and had it all set up out in the barn.But for some reason, the heater became unplugged and the brooder plate wasn't working. So the room was cold. Now they're in my pantry, until that room warms up.

We will be raising chicken and turkey again next year.
