On Monday, we hosted our first-ever fundraiser, the Local Food Throwdown in the wonderful joined spaces at Landing Beer Company and Utopian Coffee & Kitchen. Local food enthusiasts, chefs, and producers joined us for an evening of friendly competition and inventive and flavorful food and drinks.
Wow! There are no words to express our gratitude for the support from our local food community for helping make it such a success. Between the sold out ticket sales, the generous donations of fun local food-themed experiences and foods in the silent auction, and pledges to the new Northeast Indiana Farm to School Fund, we exceeded our fundraising goals for this inaugural fundraising event.

🌱 We'd like to invite you for an evening of eating, drinking, composting, discussion and a performance held in conjunction with Northeast Indiana Local Food Network's Local Food Week!
This Friday, September 17 from 6-9pm at 8015 Lower Huntington Road Fort Wayne, IN 46809, there will be the food trucks of businesses that serve meat raised at Wood Farms, in addition to beer vended by Hop River. Visitors will be able to see the Dirt Wain compost site, the massive hay bales stored at the farm, hay fields that will still be producing, and hogs the farm raises.
Wood Farms, with the help of Dick's Organics, has created a social-ecosystem of responsible food consumption and waste mitigation, turning many waste items into nutrient flows for further healthy food production.
🐝 Southwest Honey Co. will be there with fresh honey and unique pint/ wine glasses for sale. See our observation hive (with live bees) and treat yourself to more pollinator supporting gifts you'll love! Or come to just talk bees with us!
🐄 Dennis Wood will speak about Wood Farms’ full-circle approach to beef production.
🍺 Paris McFarthing (Hop River Brewing Co.) will talk about beer drinking and community building.
🎸 Local rapper Sankofa will perform.
Let the event organizers know you're coming (free w/ optional donation):
