We find notes in our money boxes all the time from people who didn’t have cash with them, promising to return and pay later—and so many of them faithfully do.

Today at our Lima Road location, I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful young man as he returned to pay for a watermelon he had taken the other day when he didn’t have the money with him.

Things like this genuinely delight us. Our honor-system stands are about more than selling sweet corn and watermelons. They communicate to people, “We trust you.” And when that trust is honored, it creates something our society and culture desperately need—an atmosphere of honesty, connection, and mutual trust.

Thank you, sir, for keeping your word and reminding us that there are still so many good and honorable people in our communities.

Great People. Great Community. Great Food.

I just found this online from Southern living. This is what we have been saying for 16 years. You don’t have to cook it long. It’s actually very delicious eating it raw. You don’t want to even cook it, as much as you want to heat it up.

Boiling corn takes less time than you probably think. Read on to find out our favorite and super-fast method.

And then there was Anne—with an “E,” like Anne of Green Gables! ❤️

About an hour after meeting Abbie at our Illinois Road location, I stopped at our Tonkel Road stand and met Anne.

Once again, I found myself talking with someone who was an unexpected breath of fresh air and a genuine encouragement to me. We shared such a wonderful conversation, and I couldn’t help but think about how amazing it is when God orchestrates connections.

Sometimes He brings someone across our path at precisely the moment we need a kind word, a warm smile or simply a reminder that there is still so much goodness in the world.

Within the span of about an hour, God brought both Abbie and Anne into my day. Neither encounter was planned, but both were exactly what my heart needed.

Thank you, Anne—with an “E”—for your kindness, your encouragement and that wonderful smile. You were another beautiful reminder that selling sweet corn has never been only about the corn. It is about the people, the conversations and the connections God creates along the way. 🌽❤️

A little follow-up to my recent post about the rising cost of beef and the quality of meat available today:

Several of you have asked whether I know any local farmers or sources where you can purchase locally raised meat. As a matter of fact, I do!

My son raises a limited number of beef cattle and hogs. The cattle are grass-fed, while the hogs are pasture-raised and also receive grain.

The animals are taken to a butcher shop in the Grabill, Indiana, area for professional processing. You would pay the processing costs directly and pick up your packaged meat at the butcher shop.

Because this is a small-scale operation, the supply is limited. If you’re interested in purchasing locally raised beef or pork, just let us know and we can give you more information! 🥩🐖🐄

Hello, everyone! Isn’t this a gorgeous day?

I wanted to explain why a few of our stands weren’t replenished as quickly as they normally would have been today.

A few days ago, I accidentally left my iPhone on the bed rail of my truck and pulled onto Lima Road. About a mile later, I realized it was missing and turned around. I found it lying in the middle of the road—it had apparently been run over several times! The case had been knocked off, the screen was completely crushed and even the back appeared bent.

Because I conduct so much of my business from my phone, I called the Apple Store in Toledo. Even though it was getting close to closing time, their team was incredibly kind and stayed with it until they got me going again.

Today, when I tried to take a selfie for my grandsons, I discovered that the camera wouldn’t switch to the front-facing view. Since I needed to replenish our Waterville stand anyway, I made another appointment in Toledo. They had it repaired and working again in about an hour and a half.

That unexpected delay put me behind on today’s deliveries, so I sincerely apologize if your stand wasn’t stocked as promptly as it should have been. Thankfully, I had some wonderful people helping at several locations to keep things rolling.

On my way home, I stopped at our New Haven location and visited with the wonderful couple who manages that stand. From there, I went to our Illinois Road stand, where I had the pleasure of meeting Addie, a healthcare worker.

Addie and I had such a wonderful conversation. She was genuinely excited about our sweet corn and told me she has a guest visiting from the United Kingdom. She plans to make elote with our corn, along with authentic tacos and other delicious food!

We also talked about this remarkable community that has grown around sweet corn—the honesty, openness and goodness found not only among Aunt Gena’s customers, but throughout the greater Fort Wayne community.

On a day when I truly needed some encouragement and a breath of fresh air, Addie was exactly that. So many of you have been that for me, too.

Thank you, Addie, for taking the time to visit with me—and thank you to this entire community for your patience, kindness and continued support. Sometimes the sweetest part of selling sweet corn isn’t the corn at all—it’s the people we meet along the way. ❤️🌽
