Dandelion Roots
Dandelion, Taraxacum officinale, has been used for centuries to support the liver, kidneys, spleen, and gallbladder.
It is thought that it was brought to the New World on the Mayflower because it was considered such an important plant for food and medicine.
While dandelion root can be dug spring through fall, root dug in the fall will be sweeter and more full of nutrition because the roots are storing energy for the cold winter ahead.
Just be sure that your dandelions has been fertilized with good organic fertilizer like the biodynamic preps since the roots accumulate whatever has been sprayed on the soil, avoid chemicals fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide as these can be toxic.
The best tasting dandelion root is the root you dig and roast yourself. And, in my opinion, the secret to really great tasting roasted dandelion root is to dark roast it. My next post will show you how to roast dandelion root and prepare your brew.

Hello Gardeners!

Today we are going to talk about permaculture. Permaculture is a systematic concept that aims to create ecosystems that respect biodiversity. It is a method of defining and practicing crops, living spaces and human agricultural systems using ecological principles and knowledge of traditional societies to replicate the diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems.

What are the benefits of Permaculture?

It combats pests in an integrated way and recovers degraded soils. It is an efficient use of energy and responsible use of air, water, soil… It produces organic and healthy food. In addition, it reduces pollution, waste and energy costs. It uses natural fertilizers and renewable energy.

Have you ever done permaculture?

Feel free to share the app and our articles with your gardening friends.
