Some days ago I wrote a longer post about Szofia. And I talk about her a lot.
But it’s not fair, that I never mention Greta, who is 19 year old. So it’s her turn now. 😊
Greta finished the last 2 years of high school as a homeschooled student. She was so diligent with her studies, that she made herself wake up at 6am every day and completed all subjects in less than 6 months.
Then we moved to the farm and she dedicated all her time to the farm. Planted trees, helped around the animals. The three of us worked together.
But then she felt that she needed to earn money. She started to work as a nanny of a 10 months old girl and on her free days she worked in a Tractor Supply store, a farm supply and feed store.
One day she decided to complete her SATS. She got prepared in a month and completed it with a high score.
She applied to college for an early childhood education course. She got accepted. So she started that course and nearing the end of the first 2 years. The course is online. She completes nearly all subjects with 95-100%. One and only lowest result was 89%.
So you can imagine that she works a lot on her college course. But due to her previous homeschool education, she learnt not to accept everything they teach as a pure fact. She learnt to think on a wide spectrum.
When she got a job offer from another family, she stopped working for the previous family and the store. So in the last over 1 year, she works for another family as a nanny, tending 4 kids, ages 4-5-6-7. She works 4-5-6-7 days a week, depending on the family’s need. She picks them up from school, takes them to activities, cooks for them or with them, makes them behave, learns with them, stays with them if they are not well.
Her daily commute is like 1.5-2 hours.
So she works on her college course and works for this family.
Every day, when she has some time in the morning (she makes time, unless she needs to go to the kids in the morning), she helps around the farm. She attends the animals, waters the plants. On her free days, she joins our farm projects as well. So she is an active part of our farm as well.
When she sees that we are exhausted or simply we don’t have the time, Greta cooks breakfast, lunch or dinner for us. Or bakes bread rolls. She helps cleaning the house, tending the laundry and if I can’t get to the store, she does the shopping too. She never complains that it’s too much on her.
She pays for her own college education. She buys her own clothing. And she just purchased her first apartment as an investment.
She learnt to save money. She learnt about the dangers of student loans, she followed the property market for years.
She always try to make time for reading. She is a book eater. She reads over a 100 book every year.
You can tell, that both of my 2 daughters are hard workers. Both of them were born with different gifts and they learnt to respect their own gifts.
If I don’t mention Greta that much, it’s because a big part of her life, of her achievements should not be discussed here due to her the profile of her job.
But I’m just as proud of Greta as Szofia.
