Power is baaaack 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you linemen! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

It was the 5th day without electricity for us. Since the hurricane they were removing fallen trees, replacing power poles, electric cables, working 16 hour shifts in the heat and burning sun. (It’s still above 90 F here, and even at night it was 80+).

I keep praying for people in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, where the whole topography changed and so many lives are destroyed.

We keep tidying things after the hurricane, beside working on our ongoing projects.

At least some of out animals enjoy themselves in the new ponds 😎

We got our electricity back on Tuesday afternoon, so I’m really grateful for that! Everything is so much simpler when we have electricity.

We were lucky, several hundreds of people still have no power in their home and other people’s houses are flooded or destroyed. 💔

The forcast says another thingy is forming. At this point they don’t know too much about it. We’ll see.

I hope white hair looks good on me 😅

Last September they predicted the landfall of Idalia to the Florida panhandle area. But it decided to turn East, right towards us. From then on it felt like a tennis match.

Earlier today the radar said it’s coming our way. Then shifted to the North-West. But now it seems, that we might enjoy Debbie’s visit. We’ll see.

Rain started pouring at 2pm today. There were some quieter periods, but it really started the concert at around 7pm. Since then it keeps coming like from a fire hydrant.

An hour ago they changed the tropical storm to cat 1 hurricane. It’s still above water and can further intensify.

Based on the forecast, the rain won’t stop in the next 24-36 hours.

I’m tired. Let’s have a rest, ok? 😊

Over 3 years ago, we picked up a handful of joy. She was dumped, and it was our luck. We got 3 years with her.

She faced plenty of challenges. It took her many months to learn to jump or even to land properly. Then she had a uterine infection and needed an emergency surgery, where we learnt, that her liver was not functioning.

She could never reach a full size, she stayed our baby. She was quiet, kind, gentle.

A year ago she started to have serious digestive issues. The vet said after trying enemas and other things, that we should euthanize her. But we decided to give her time and administer subcuteneous fluids at home (done by Szofia).

After several months, she started to p**p properly again. And she felt better. But some weeks ago she had another challenge, then another. She started to lose weight, energy and life.

Today we made the decision to let her go. She was just staring in front of herself, she stopped eating. She was ready.

Our farm vet came and helped her through.

Run free Whiskers! I hope everyone, who we had to depart through the years are welcoming you over there.

Merle, a chicken that we got over a year ago finally became a mom. Her first attempt wasn’t successful, but this time she and another chicken hatched 9 baby chicks.

Our puppy cane corso is trained every single time he is fed. He gets nearly all food from hand.

He is 12 weeks old. He mostly listens to sit, down, stay, touch, come, leave it commands. Not 100% yet though. 🤪 It’s a process, it takes time and repetition.

He spends time with our smaller livestock, so he gets used to them. Our 1 year old cane corso is his role model, who is a brilliant livestock guardian.

Some days ago I wrote a longer post about Szofia. And I talk about her a lot.

But it’s not fair, that I never mention Greta, who is 19 year old. So it’s her turn now. 😊

Greta finished the last 2 years of high school as a homeschooled student. She was so diligent with her studies, that she made herself wake up at 6am every day and completed all subjects in less than 6 months.

Then we moved to the farm and she dedicated all her time to the farm. Planted trees, helped around the animals. The three of us worked together.

But then she felt that she needed to earn money. She started to work as a nanny of a 10 months old girl and on her free days she worked in a Tractor Supply store, a farm supply and feed store.

One day she decided to complete her SATS. She got prepared in a month and completed it with a high score.

She applied to college for an early childhood education course. She got accepted. So she started that course and nearing the end of the first 2 years. The course is online. She completes nearly all subjects with 95-100%. One and only lowest result was 89%.

So you can imagine that she works a lot on her college course. But due to her previous homeschool education, she learnt not to accept everything they teach as a pure fact. She learnt to think on a wide spectrum.

When she got a job offer from another family, she stopped working for the previous family and the store. So in the last over 1 year, she works for another family as a nanny, tending 4 kids, ages 4-5-6-7. She works 4-5-6-7 days a week, depending on the family’s need. She picks them up from school, takes them to activities, cooks for them or with them, makes them behave, learns with them, stays with them if they are not well.

Her daily commute is like 1.5-2 hours.

So she works on her college course and works for this family.

Every day, when she has some time in the morning (she makes time, unless she needs to go to the kids in the morning), she helps around the farm. She attends the animals, waters the plants. On her free days, she joins our farm projects as well. So she is an active part of our farm as well.

When she sees that we are exhausted or simply we don’t have the time, Greta cooks breakfast, lunch or dinner for us. Or bakes bread rolls. She helps cleaning the house, tending the laundry and if I can’t get to the store, she does the shopping too. She never complains that it’s too much on her.

She pays for her own college education. She buys her own clothing. And she just purchased her first apartment as an investment.

She learnt to save money. She learnt about the dangers of student loans, she followed the property market for years.

She always try to make time for reading. She is a book eater. She reads over a 100 book every year.

You can tell, that both of my 2 daughters are hard workers. Both of them were born with different gifts and they learnt to respect their own gifts.

If I don’t mention Greta that much, it’s because a big part of her life, of her achievements should not be discussed here due to her the profile of her job.

But I’m just as proud of Greta as Szofia.

Our camp guests really wanted to try paddle boarding. So we went to Itchetucknee Springs. Paddle boarding looks so easy, when someone else does it or you just float downwards. But paddle boarding on a river upwards is a different story.

The girls did great, but they realized, that it takes practice and time to make it look effortless.

The second time we went, we tried the swimming area. The spring starts somewhere here. The water is completely clean and 72F/ 22C whole year round. (North Florida can have freezing temps down to 17-18F/ -8C at winter.)
