π Nursery Update! π±π
We have officially started cleaning up and clearing out for a quick revamp of our space.
Here's a little 'behind the scenes' photo. I don't often show you the other side of my nursery. Well here she is! π I love this little area. The shelves are bare this week as you can see, so I turned the camera the other direction for once!
Why are the shelves bare!? π«ͺ
Most of the year we run with fans and windows open, and a heater in winter. But that humidity is creeping in quick now, and we need to get the AC unit installed before we are in full blown Florida Summer mode.
In order for this to be effective, I need to finish the caulking I never did 2 years ago. Last summer we moved to another air conditioned grow area on the property. It worked fine then, but this year we've severely outgrown it. Which is a great blessing!
So we can't move there, and now I need to caulk & seal this gal up. We put up insulation, walls and trim in 2024, but there are still a million little nooks and crannies that are going to leak out all my cold air if I don't seal them up.
And thing is, you can't caulk dusty cracks. π¬ I feel like I just made up a double entendre unintentionally. But you can't lol. You gotta clean those jokers out first.
The thought of using a shop vac in the same place my greens were growing π€’ was too much and not happening. Those things blow a lot of air and consequently everything else all over while they run. Gross. Moving trays daily to work was also not an option, as it's too hard on the greens.
So we shut her down for the week so we could work without compromising our standards. We have our micros for our restaurants and Wards growing in our small space from last year, while we quickly get this grow space turned around and prepped for summer.
Don't worry - We're also getting planted up for next week, as those trays can sit stacked in blackout in last year's space until Saturday when we are finished upstairs.
And once we have this baby all sealed up, we'll be able to keep growing like we have been. Expect to see more varieties, and more trays of your favorites so we're not running out so quickly. I already have another shelf downstairs ready to get put together. βΊοΈ And clearly we have the space up here.
We will miss you at Alachua County Farmers' Market this week! Just know it's necessary and the quickest path back to full production through those hot summer months. Thank you for supporting us and enabling this growth! π«ΆπΌ See you back NEXT week with all your favorites!
More updates to come on the nursery as we work along this week. π±
