College Football can result in road trips to cheer on your favorite team. Burp & Slurp will tell you over the next few days where to eat when traveling to Lubbock, Waco, Austin, Norman, Houston and Tulsa. We will even throw in a few place along the way to these college football towns.
First up, Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX!
1) Evie Mae's Barbecue- a Top 50 joint according to Texas Monthly but B&S rank this BBQ joint a Top 5 in the Lone Star State. Some of the best brisket and green chile cheese sausage you will ever have. Load up on the green chile cheese grits and a few of their homemade pies. Did we mention they have free beer.
2) Spanky's is a Lubbock staple and a must stop when heading to a football game. Great burgers and other sandwiches but the one thing you must consume is the world famous fried cheese. It is the King of fried cheese.
3) One Guy from Italy University is another Lubbock legend with pizzas and the definition of a college dive eatery. Don't get a pizza, get the Calzone. The calzones are so big you might get three meals out of it.
4) Orlando's Italian Restaurant is one of the two locations for this eatery that has been around since 1965. If you like HOT start off with the Down & Dirty Tortellini or the Mafia Queso and then order up a Habanero Butter Pizza, the Italian Chicken Fry or one of their many pasta dishes.
5) The Farmhouse Restaurant is a great place to grab breakfast with a great , plate sized pancakes and if you are lucky if it is a special of the month, the Cinnamon Roll Pancake or Waffle. Always worth the wait.
