Keto Chicken Nuggets 🍗
🥘 Ingredients
1½ lb boneless, skinless chicken breast
1 cup almond flour
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
2 eggs
2 tbsp heavy cream
2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil, for cooking
👩🍳 Instructions
Cut the chicken breast into small, nugget-sized pieces.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream.
In a separate bowl, combine almond flour, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Dip each chicken piece into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the almond flour mixture.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the coated chicken pieces in a single layer, working in batches if necessary.
Cook for about 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) internally.
Transfer the nuggets to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
Serve hot with your favorite keto-friendly dipping sauce.
🔥 Air Fryer Method
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
Lightly spray the basket and place the nuggets in a single layer.
Air fry for 10–14 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and cooked through.
❓ Q&A
Q: Are these chicken nuggets keto-friendly?
A: Yes. Almond flour and Parmesan replace traditional breadcrumbs, making them much lower in carbohydrates.
Q: Can I use coconut flour instead of almond flour?
A: Yes, but coconut flour absorbs much more liquid, so you will need considerably less. Start with a smaller amount and adjust the coating as needed.
Q: Can I freeze keto chicken nuggets?
A: Yes. Allow them to cool completely, then freeze in a single layer before transferring them to a freezer-safe container.
Q: What dipping sauces are keto-friendly?
A: Sugar-free ranch, garlic mayo, buffalo sauce, or a low-carb barbecue sauce are good options.
Q: How do I know when the chicken is done?
A: The safest method is to check the thickest piece with a food thermometer; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
