Pulled something special from the library today.

Black Maple Hill — Premium Small Batch Bourbon
95 Proof | Limited Edition

An old-school Kentucky bourbon with plenty of character — caramelized sugar, vanilla and honey up front, followed by toasted oak, baking spice and a touch of dark fruit.

But this bottle is about more than the pour. Black Maple Hill has built a serious cult following over the years, and these older Kentucky bottlings have become increasingly difficult to come across.

🥃 ARAK — A SPIRIT STEEPED IN TRADITION

One of the oldest spirits of the Levant, Arak is traditionally distilled from grapes and aniseed, creating a bold, aromatic spirit with unmistakable notes of licorice and spice.

The magic happens when water is added — the crystal-clear spirit transforms into a beautiful milky white, a natural phenomenon known as the louche.

Traditionally enjoyed slowly with cold water and ice alongside mezze, Arak isn't meant to be rushed. It's a spirit built around food, conversation, and gathering around the table.

Arak is fantastic with food because that bright anise character cuts through rich, salty, smoky flavors.

I’d pair it with mezze: hummus, baba ghanoush, labneh, olives, grilled halloumi, kebabs or lamb, grilled fish, and tabbouleh. It’s especially good with grilled meats and seafood.

For cocktails, Arak can replace other anise spirits in citrus-forward drinks. A simple one:

Arak Lemon Highball — Arak + fresh lemon juice + a little simple syrup + sparkling water over ice. Garnish with mint and lemon.

But culturally, the classic experience is still the best: Arak + cold water + ice, served alongside a table full of mezze.

Saturday was one for the books. 🥃📚

SPIRITS & STORIES — 30 MONTHS OF LIQUOR LIBRARY

Looking through these photos, the bottles almost feel secondary.

What made Saturday special was the people — friends, customers, brand partners, familiar faces, and new ones — all coming together to celebrate what Liquor Library has become.

When we opened our doors 30 months ago, the goal was never just to put bottles on shelves. We wanted to build a place around discovery, education, great spirits, and genuine community.

Saturday was a reminder that we’re doing exactly that.

To everyone who came out, poured with us, shared a story, bought a bottle, brought a friend, or has supported us somewhere along the way.

Daniel’s Pick — Volume II

Another step in our journey.

Some bottles are selected. Others are built with intention.

Daniel’s Pick — Volume II represents the next chapter of Liquor Library’s journey into creating releases that are genuinely our own.

For this edition, we worked with Cambio Tequila to create a custom Reposado built through blending different maturations rather than relying on a single barrel or age statement.

The final composition:

60% Reposado — 9 months, across 3 barrels
25% Corazón production — Cognac cask, 19 months
15% Extra Añejo — Oloroso Sherry cask, 38 months
52% ABV | 104 Proof | 100% Agave Azul

Each component brings something different to the bottle. The younger Reposado provides the foundation and keeps the agave present. The Cognac cask adds maturity, richness and another layer of fruit and oak, while the 38-month Oloroso Sherry component brings deeper aged character and complexity.

And at 104 proof, we wanted those layers to arrive with their full personality intact.

But Volume II isn't simply about what's inside the bottle.

For us, these custom releases are becoming a record of where Liquor Library has been and where we're going. Every selection teaches us something. Every barrel introduces us to new people, new techniques and new possibilities. And each release gives us another opportunity to create something we believe deserves a place on the shelf.

That's why the words on this bottle mean so much:

“Another step in our journey.”

Daniel's Pick isn't meant to be one bottle or one moment. It's an evolving collection—a journal of sorts, written one release at a time.
