Elsa always expects me to dump
The water buckets on her. Just waiting patiently. Sometimes she will roll around on her back after like a doggy. Today she didn’t but I was hoping so to catch it on camera 🎥

📣📣📣SHIPPED EGGS

VERY IMPORTANT INFO

LOCAL PICKUP IS ALWAYS BETTER
EGGS ARE POROUS AND ABSORB AND BREATH IN BACTERIA FROM THEIR ENVIRONMENT

INCUBATION IS 97.7 degrees humidity 27% you need to have your incubator CLEANED and set at this running for atleast 24 hours before setting your eggs in it.

Why do I have to say this DO NOT SHAKE THE EGG 🤦🏻‍♀️

WHEN EGGS ARE SHIPPED UNWRAP THEM and set them out in the same room the incubator is in for 48 hours before setting them! Write on them w chalk the date you put them in the incubator.

WHEN LOCAL PICKUP immediately take them home and set in the room the incubator is in and let sit out for 24 hours before setting in the incubator label with chalk the date you set in the incubator.

Failure to do this will result in low hatch rates and rotten eggs!!!! I do not replace these because it is based on a controlled environment that you provide!

I also do not replace chicks you have to ask for help, research online, really do your homework on emu to make sure they survive. I can provide the tools but that’s all I can do.

GOODLUCK AND HAPPY HATCHING 🐣

Eggs usually wiggle to show viability around day 35, whistle at them and watch! Some don’t wiggle but still viable. You can’t candle emu eggs. Too dark.

If egg starts seeping toss it, it has turned rotten and can explode in the incubator and turn the other eggs bad.

Around day 45 check the egg daily, take it out, set on flat surface and whistle at it. When it whistles back then it’s going to hatch soon! Like within 1-3 days!

When hatches leave it alone let it stay in hatch tray for a couple of days after it leaves the shell and has dried.

📣📣📣📣Important emu chick care

1. They need heat til they lose their stripes an actual heat lamp- they can play outside if it’s 80 or above during this timeframe

2. B complex drops in lukewarm water in a bowl to scoop

3. feed has to be NON MEDICATED free feed them make sure bowl stays full

4. Supplement with fresh chopped kale it has important nutrients that are essential to survival ESP AS BABIES

5. Avoid slippery surfaces use door mats, turf, rhino as flooring when babies and avoid dusty bedding. Just have an extra set and hose it clean and trade it out. Can use hay or straw in addition.

6. EMERGENCY PROTOCALS:
If chicks get too cold for too long (hypothermia can set in) you can warm a towel in dryer and hold them in it get them warm, blow dry on medium high heat, hold close to body anything like that to warm up and keep a spare heat lamp
Bulb.

If chicks starts to develop wry neck- a vitamin deficiency where they curl up and twist their neck- start walking backwards and rolling- VITAMIN E and b complex drops if it’s really bad you can do selenium w vitamin e paste and vitamin bcomplex injections at up to 1cc twice a day in hip using the tiny diabetic needle MAKE SURE YOU FRIDGE THE B COMPLEX INJECTIBLE AND YOU WARM THE INJECTION/syringe to body temp before injecting to avoid HYPOTHERMIA. HAND FEED DURING THIS AND SLOWLY DROP WATER TO HYDRATE TO AVOID ASPIRATION (new thing we have learned thru one babies experience) 📣📣📣

ALWAYS ASK ME IF YOU NEED HELP OR FIND AN EXOTIC ANIMAL VET IN YOUR AREA TO PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT 📣
