What if your grocery shopping could support healthier soil, local farmers, and a stronger community? 🌱

That’s the idea behind Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)—a simple way to reconnect with your food and the people who grow it.

🥬 What is a CSA? You purchase a share of a local farm’s harvest and receive seasonal produce throughout the growing season. You get fresh ingredients, discover new foods, and support the people caring for the land.

🌿 Why choose organic? Certified organic farming follows standards that restrict many synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. While organic doesn’t mean pesticide-free, it offers another way to support farming practices that prioritize soil health and ecological stewardship.

🚜 Why does local agriculture matter? Much of our modern food system relies on large-scale production, long supply chains, and efficiency. CSAs offer an opportunity to invest in a more direct relationship between farmers and consumers—one that values seasonal food, farm transparency, and community resilience.

When you join a CSA, you’re doing more than buying vegetables. You’re helping farmers plan their seasons, supporting local food production, and bringing the harvest closer to home.

Your food can be an investment in the kind of agriculture you want to see thrive.

One sweet potato plant, two harvests! 🌱 Did you know you can eat sweet potato leaves, too?

Sweet potatoes are a wonderful addition to a productive garden because they offer both nutritious leafy greens and underground tubers.

🌿 GROWING: Sweet potatoes thrive in warm weather, full sun, and loose, well-drained soil. Their sprawling vines make excellent ground cover, helping shade the soil and reduce moisture loss.

✂️ HARVESTING THE LEAVES: You can harvest young, tender leaves and shoot tips throughout the growing season. Take only a portion of the foliage at a time, leaving plenty of healthy leaves to fuel root development. Avoid repeatedly cutting the entire vine, especially if you’re growing for the tubers.

🍽️ EATING THE LEAVES: Sweet potato greens are edible and nutritious, providing fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Wash them thoroughly, then sauté, steam, or stir-fry them. They have a mild, earthy flavor and can be used much like spinach or other cooked leafy greens.

🥔 HARVESTING THE TUBERS: The underground sweet potatoes develop as the plant grows. Harvest when the tubers have reached a useful size and before cold weather damages the crop. After digging, cure healthy tubers in warm, humid conditions with good airflow to help them heal and store longer.

The beauty of sweet potatoes is that they help you get more from the same patch of ground: nourishing greens above the soil and delicious food beneath it.

🥬 Swiss Chard
Hardy, colorful, and productive. It can keep giving you fresh greens well into the cooler months.

🥬 Cabbage
A fall garden classic. Start from seed now and give it plenty of room to develop those big, dense heads.

❤️ Beets
Easy to grow from seed and perfect for cooler weather. You get nutritious greens and an edible root!

The best part? You don’t need a huge garden to get started. A few seeds can turn an empty bed into fresh food.

Your grocery bill is going up. Your garden can help bring it back down. 🌱

Fall isn’t the end of gardening—it’s another chance to grow.

When everything seems to cost more, planting a few seeds is one small way to take some of that expense back into your own hands.

You don’t need acres of land.
You don’t need a perfect garden.
You don’t even need to grow everything you eat.

Start with herbs. Greens. Vegetables. Flowers for the pollinators.

A handful of seeds can turn into weeks of food, and a garden can keep producing long after you thought the growing season was over.

This fall, we’re growing with the season—not fighting it.

Follow along as we learn how to grow more, waste less, and make the most of what we have. 🌱
