Mrs. Carol Burdison wasn't just an SCA Rep to me, she was also one of my substitute teachers at WMCS. She was always pushing me to do my best in SCA competitions and was one of my biggest supporters. Anytime I got a walk, she was right there cheering me on. Whenever a competition was coming up, she would find me in the halls of West Memphis Christian School and make sure I was cooking. And if I walked at a competition, she made sure everyone there knew about it. Mrs. Carol fought through pain and challenges just to be at the competitions she loved, never letting it stop her from supporting others. Her encouragement, smile, and enthusiasm made a lasting impact on so many of us. It's hard to imagine an SCA competition without seeing or hearing her, but her spirit will always be there. She will be deeply missed, but today we can take comfort knowing she has received her healing.
Rest easy, Mrs. Carol. Thank you for always believing in me.

Rainy Memorial Day weekend, but rolled out the Smokin Brothers, Inc. Premier 30. With some B&B Charcoal Competition pellets. It was really tender, moist and full of flavor with those Heath Riles BBQ rubs and injections. Still got some more work to be competition ready.

Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest 2026 is in the books. Got a 2nd place call in the Jr. Chicken division. Thanks to Springer Mountain Farms for supplying the best chicken legs on the market. Congrats to our buddy Bernie and his teammate at The Chopping Block Webster for their JR Grand Champion call and to our sponsor Heath Riles BBQ for his Championship Rib walk and being the first in 42 years to Grand Champion back to back.
