Happy Sunday—posting this as a little reminder & to spread some awareness.

These photos were taken by the amazing Photography from our ribbon cutting, surrounded by so much love and support from this community. We’ll be sharing more updates today about what we’ve been working on & what’s ahead.

But, I also want to share something that happened Friday morning that’s been on my mind.

While we were prepping for the , one of my employees came to the back informing me she heard a customer make transphobic comments toward another customer. My employee was understandably shaken. The person who made the comments left quickly and was found outside going through our dumpster. When I went out to address it and told them they were no longer welcome back at our business, they responded by saying people like us shouldn’t exist.

I want to be very clear—this kind of behavior will never be tolerated in our space. Everyone, especially my transgender community, should be able to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or sweet treat without fear of things like this happening.

If you were the person the comments were directed at and you happen to see this, please reach out. I want to connect and support you however I can. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about how I didn’t get to connect with you after this happened.

This is also a reminder that this kind of hate isn’t “somewhere else.” It exists everywhere. What matters is how we show up when it happens, how we support each other, and how we protect the spaces we’re building. We are, and will always be, a safe space for our community.

Thank you to my staff for reporting the situation immediately and for taking the time to learn how to handle situations like this moving forward. And thank you to the Fortuna Police Department for being attentive and responsive when we reached out.

We’ll keep showing up, creating space, and taking care of each other—always and in whatever you’re getting up to this weekend, choose the option to be kind. ❤️

Peach & blackberry personal pies have been flying out of the oven! Visit us today in Fortuna from 7am to 6:30pm to get a taste of our pie 🥧 😘 open Tuesday - Saturday (7 days a week is just around the corner though!)

Thank you to all of our loyal customers who came by to see us at the last night in old town eureka! We sold out of a lot of goodies & appreciate every one of you for making last night one of the best markets we have had so far!!! (Despite the less the ideal weather)

Patches’ Pastries is now hiring seasonal Baristas, Bakers & Friday Night Market sales staff for our Fortuna & Ferndale locations!

As we continue expanding our hours, events & menu offerings, we’re looking for friendly, hardworking people who are excited about coffee, food, community & creating welcoming spaces for others. Whether you’ve worked in cafés, kitchens, customer service — or you’re just eager to learn — we’d love to hear from you ❤️

Priority given to applicants with:
☕️ Espresso bar experience
🥐 Commercial kitchen/bakery experience
🛍️ Customer service or sales experience

What we’re looking for:
✨ Weekend & closing availability (weekend AM availability for our bakers)
✨ Positive attitude & willingness to learn
✨ Team-oriented people who enjoy fast paced environments
