‼️National Swine Registry Draft Entry‼️
RIT5 Fair N Square 82-1
Sire: DJC4 Fair N Square 21-3
Dam's Sire: BYSN1 Top Shelp 17-8
Born: 8/02/25
Sire: Fair N Square is an Off The Chain x Wild Thing that was bred by Kinley & David Claytor and is housed at Halphen Sires. His sire, Off The Chain (Laird Premium Blend Genetics) has sired champions at all levels. Meanwhile, his dam was the top selling Berkshire Gilt at OYE in 2021, and she went on to produce the Supreme Pure Gilt at OYE in 2022 and Fair Warning, who stood in stud at Southern Gold Sires.
Dam: The 21-3 mother of this litter is a Top Shelf x Family Jewels that was purchased from Day & White at the NSR Legends & Dreamers Sale. She had an incredible show career for the Glunt boys. She was named multiple time champion or reserve on the winter circuit in Ohio and then capped it off with being named 5th Overall at the 2023 NJSA Southeast Regional in Perry. The 21-3 sow is not only an elite show gilt, but she is also generator! She has already raised the Reserve Berk Barrow at the 2024 Georgia National, a class winner at the 2024 NAILE, and a CIB winner at the 2025 Indiana State Fair 4-H Show. However, we believe this 82-litter and the 86-litter (full-sibs) are her best work yet.
We are building our sow herd around 82-1's dam (21-3), who is still productive and in great shape. We have retained a maternal sister, 3 littermate sisters, and have a full sibling that is in our 2026 show string.
82-1 is a stress negative and napole negative mating, and he has passed the 50K DNA tests through the ABA office.
We have been in the Berkshire game for a long time ... going back to the mid 1980s. We have never had a litter with this extreme bone, width, and power while still maintaining balance, look, and structure. This makes us extremely excited about 82-1. We couldn't resist the urge to put 82-1 to work. We used him naturally on two sows and those sows are confirmed pregnant.
We believe that 82-1 is a unicorn in modern day show pig production: 1) he's backed by multiple generations of outstanding winners and genetics; 2) his mom is a successful show gilt that breeds as expected, farrows on her own, and milks good; 3) he's out of a very deep and consistent litter that was free of genetic defects; 4) he's naturally hairy and dark pigmented, and has always looked good from day 1 with minimal fit and use of the feed bucket; and 5) the dude has proven that he can get sows bred!
Let's make raising show pigs fun again!
