In the mid-90s, seven ranching families in Wheeler County, Oregon, decided they’d had enough of their high-quality cattle being lost in the generic beef shuffle. They knew their beef was special, but once it hit the packing plants, it was mingled with everyone else’s and lost its identity.
In 1997, they took a leap of faith and formed Painted Hills Natural Beef. In the early days, these ranchers did it all from finding the right partners to standing in grocery store aisles, cooking up samples and talking face-to-face with customers. Something we still practice to this day.
Today, these families still lead the way and our corporate office is still located in Fossil, OR. population around 450 people. We remain dedicated to three main points. Transparency. Beef born, raised, and processed in the USA. Integrity. Never any added hormones or antibiotics. Community. Sourced from family ranches across the Northwest.
We aren't just selling beef, we’re sharing a legacy that started in a living room in the smallest county in Oregon and lives on in every bite.
