Welcome back to our Sunday Series: MEET THE CREW!

Today, we offer up Waffle. The rooster of all our roosters. He is THE rooster. The gym bro. Mr. I Have to Strut My Stuff. Sweet name, big main character vibes. He will absolutely make sure you notice him. He’s our biggest boy and he knows it. He can be a bit of a bully at times, but he gets put in his place. He is a handsome fella that knows his worth.

On this Sunday’s MEET THE CREW: We would like to introduce Teriyaki.

She is the original escape artist, building a nest in our pumpkin patch without us knowing, and then Josh found a clutch of close to 30 eggs 🤣🤣. Our sweet Teriyaki is a Barred Rock and lays beautiful tan eggs. And as you can see, she likes her swing and can be found enjoying it most pretty days. She’s not a fan of the cold, choosing to stay in the coop on cooler days. She absolutely soaks up the sun though. She’s not the friendliest of chickens, but is by no means a terror…just comfortably aloof. But she is quite entertaining to watch. I mean, it’s a chicken…in a swing…what’s not fun about that?!

On this Easter Special of MEET THE CREW, we decided to bring our very own Easter bunny - Cinnamon Bun (aka Bun Bun)!

Bun Bun was not a very willing participant in the photo shoot until she found some shade. She’s not a big fan of these warmer temperatures. This pretty bunny has some bulk and she’s still not done growing! She is a Flemish Giant Rabbit. They can get up to 3 feet long and weigh as much as 30 pounds! That’s one big rabbit. And let me tell you the binkies (bunny zoomies) are epic! She loves fruit and all her greens, and is quite picky about her hay. She terrifies the dog and loves playing with the cats. Her personality is as big as she is. She can be sweet and sassy. (And let me tell you, the bigger the rabbit, the bigger the teeth…ouch!)

But we also want to remind everyone the reason we celebrate Easter and the Easter Bunny — Jesus. Easter is more than a reminder of the renewal of spring. It is a promise of a renewal of spirit and that Jesus defeated death. He died on the cross to forgive our sins, then rose from the grave so we can have life everlasting! No greater gift has ever been given. No greater love has ever existed. This gift, this love is not just for a few, but for everyone. God loves us, no matter where we are in life. He will meet you where you are and carry you through. He gave us this gift of salvation and Easter is our acceptance and celebration of that gift.

Our first jelly making day of the season was a success! Wild Violet and Dandelion jelly are in the books. Both will be available for sale, but quantities are limited.

On today’s episode of MEET THE CREW we would like to introduce one of the smallest members of our flock: Sophia.

Sophia came to us from a local feed store and she came along with the other Golden Girls - Dorothy, Rose, and Blanche. And she was the tiniest member of this quartet. We’re not completely certain what breed she is, but she is at least part Cream Legbar, which means we get the prettiest light blue eggs from her. She is a sweet little lady and loves to be carried around always eager for pets and affection.

Don’t let her stature fool you, though. She is big on personality and doesn’t let the roosters by with too much. I’ve seen her put a couple of them on the run a time or two. She loves to have conversations and can be quite chatty if you’re willing to listen. If all chickens could be a sweet as this one, I would have 100 of them.
