We have been so busy on the farm the last few weeks, so here are a few updates!
■ We have been building more storage and rearranging the farm to accommodate our upcoming projects.
■ Trying to keep up with the garden after all the rain this spring has been a challenge!
■ We processed our fist batch of freedom ranger meat birds. We were extremely satisfied with them and just received our next batch today. We usually raise cornish cross meat birds but wanted to give these a try. They will take 9-10 weeks until freezer camp, but they seem to be a much hardier bird.
■ We are starting a few new breeds of Chickens so we will have more hatching eggs and chicks coming soon. We have been adding chicken coops and runs to accommodate them.
■The garlic we harvested has been curing for a few weeks so we are getting that cleaned and trimmed for selling and storing.
■ We started a couple new batches of saurkraut with the beautiful cabbage we harvested.

Here is my process of making one jug. I sped the video up significantly but it took me a little over an hour to get it to this point. (I'm still slow at throwing big pieces) I will let this dry very slowly for 3 or 7 days depending on the piece. Then I will Bisque fire to about 1950° F then wait 12 hours for the kiln to cool. Next, I glaze each piece and glaze fire to 2160° F. Then not so patiently wait another 12 hours for the kiln to cool off to see if everything survived the process without dips, cracks, pin holes, or countless other things that can go wrong during the process 😆

I will be set up outside with my pottery wheel, demonstrating the exciting process of throwing on the wheel! 🎨🏺 It's a great opportunity to see how raw clay transforms into beautiful pieces of art.

My shop days are limited this time of year because the garden is calling my attention outside but I managed to fire another batch! I have some big cups in the works and I am throwing some big bowls this week as well.

A hot cup of coffee on a cool rainy day is pure bliss, especially in homemade mugs. 😊
