Vacation coffee today… Walker Bay Coffee in Walker MN!
Not my favorite, to be brutally honest. The espresso had a very bitter taste to it and there was a substantial amount of grounds in the bottom of our lattes. There could be a number of reasons for this. Could be older beans, beans needing to be dialed in, portafilter or group head potentially being dirty, all sort of scenarios. Even with a sweeter latte the espresso should be smooth and blend in to the latte and give a well balanced taste. I noticed they use a darker roast beans, which is fine and can lead to a bolder espresso, but shouldn’t account for the amount of bitterness.
Please know I’m not trying to be negative here, just honest! I know a lot of people from our area vacation up this way, and since I’m already checking out the local coffee spots, I’d love to share my experiences and help others know which places I’d recommend. ❤️ At the end of the day, I don’t think there’s a single coffee shop that hasn’t pulled a bad shot or made a drink that wasn’t quite right once in a while. I happened to stop in on a random Wednesday, so I can’t speak to if this is what their usual drinks are like! Hopefully, this is something they’ll notice themselves and be able to work on, because I’d love to see them serving smoother lattes in the future!
