Busy day today. I processed a few frames of honey from 1 of my hives and got 14.5 pounds of honey. I’m a novice beekeeper , so any honey is thrilling to me.

“Other than CDT, goat owners with small herds usually do not require any other vaccines. In areas where rabies is prevalent, some veterinarians recommend rabies vaccination for goats but be advised that there is no formally-approved rabies vaccine for goats. It is critical to consult with a veterinarian to determine what is best for your specific situation.”

I think it is important to share this , in light of the infected petting zoo goats in Iredell County ,NC. Goats are not traditionally vaccinated against rabies. Any mammal , including humans , can contract rabies if exposed. While all domesticated pets are required to have a Rabies vaccine other animals may not. When handling any animal that you do not know , you must be conscious of infection risks. Stay aware from the mouth , teeth and saliva. Wash you hands thoroughly after handing any animal. Do not eat or drink around farm animals and always consult a vet if a farm animal is attacked by a wild or unknown animal.

A month or so ago, my daughter rescued a starving , 8 month old cat and 4 kittens from the woods. We vetted them, and fed them and loved them. Two of the kittens have found their homes but we still have momma cat and 2 male kittens who need homes. They are sweet and have been living in my garage. They are litter box trained. If you need a good cat, barn cat or companion , please let me know. These kitties have survived so much. They deserve a family of their own to love. 💕

Cooper was neutered this week. Being a responsible pet owner includes doing your part to prevent unwanted litters. Next we will neuter the rescue kittens.
