They saved the best for last this evening.

These babies continue to be the friendliest chicks I have ever raised. They just want to be with you….usually on you! But even the ones that are more stand-offish (I use that term loosely)still want to be near you. I think I’ve ended up with 4 cockerels out of 11 chicks. I’ll take those odds any day! The BCMs you see in the background are not nearly as lovey-dovey as these babies and were a lot more cockerel heavy. 7 out of 14 is what it’s looking like. Still, I can’t be mad about a 50/50 split. I have Silverudd’s in the brooder and it’s looking like I’m going to have 5/7 boys!

How are your hatches or straight-run chick purchases running? A good mix or is it “year of the rooster” for everyone? 🐓
