It's getting that time of year where you'll start seeing bulk firewood for sale in ambiguous terms like "load", "truck/trailer load". You'll also see obviously green wood listed as "seasoned". If you're buying firewood, be sure to ask what the volume is, a professional will know a cord is 128 cu ft, if they get mad that you ask then they're not honest. Also ask when it was cut and split. Seasoned firewood means split for at least a year and dried to a moisture level below 20%, preferably below 15%. You can get a wood moisture meter on Amazon pretty cheap. Burning green firewood in your home can be hazardous; in addition to a lot of smoke, it builds creosote in the chimney which can cause a (unintentional) chimney fire.

Be sure you know what you're buying and agree on the volume of wood for that price.

On that note, we sell bundles and small quantities, all cut and split in summer/fall 2025, on the roadside stand, intended for camping and backyard use. You can stop and see what you're getting for your money.
