Mickey had a BIG first with us today! 🐴💙

Today was Mickey’s first time under saddle since joining our herd and his first trail ride with us… and he absolutely LOVED it. 😂

The funniest part? He went right into the pond! This is the same horse who gives every puddle in Frankenmuth the absolute stink eye like we’re asking him to cross an ocean. 🙄😂 Apparently puddles are highly suspicious, but an entire pond? No problem.

He was relaxed, happy, and seemed to genuinely enjoy getting out on the trails. It was so much fun getting to see a completely different side of Mickey today.

Hunter is the other H of H&H Acres… and he’s a dairy farmer. 🐄🚜

I, on the other hand, love horses. 🐴

Which means our relationship is basically a modern-day Romeo & Juliet story… except instead of feuding families, it’s cows vs. horses.
(And sometimes feuding families 🤣)

Cow farmers have a special term for horses: “hay burners.”
Apparently, according to Hunter, my horses eat expensive hay, require expensive shoes, occasionally destroy expensive things, and contribute absolutely nothing to the milk tank.

Meanwhile, I would argue that cows are basically horses with less personality and worse career opportunities. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

He talks about milking, farm chores and cheese.

I talk about harnesses, carriage routes, vet bills, and why we absolutely needed another draft horse.

Somehow, against all odds, the dairy farmer and the horse lover fell in love and created H&H Acres. ❤️

He keeps the cows alive and milked.
I keep collecting hay burners.

A love story for the agricultural ages. 😂❤️

Josh, Jase & family — we’d love to invite you to come take an evening carriage ride with us while you’re here in Frankenmuth! 🇬🇧🐴❤️

There’s no better way to end a full day in Frankenmuth than slowing things down with the family and seeing town from behind a beautiful draft horse.

And for us, these rides mean a little more than just sightseeing. Every carriage ride helps support the care, rehabilitation, and second chances of horses like Maggie — horses who deserve the opportunity to have a safe home, a meaningful job, and people who love them.

Maggie would be pretty proud to show you around town. ❤️

I’m asked pretty often, “What started your passion for horses?”

I’m not always quick to answer, “Funerals.” But truthfully, that’s where so much of this passion began.

I fell in love with horses while driving a horse-drawn hearse for funerals.

There’s something about that job that is hard to put into words. It isn’t just another carriage ride when you’re given the honor of providing someone with their last ride. It feels bigger. You sit a little taller. You feel a little prouder. You understand that what you’re doing matters.

The horses aren’t just pulling a carriage. For that moment, they become a quiet shoulder to cry on while carrying someone’s whole world to their final resting place.

There is something incredibly powerful about the sound of hoofbeats, the stillness of the horses, and the respect and tradition that comes with a horse-drawn funeral. It is an honor I have never taken lightly.

Although our own carriage company doesn’t offer funeral services yet, I am always incredibly honored when I’m asked to come back and drive the hearse for the company that first sparked this passion in me.

Some people fall in love with horses in the show ring, on the trail, or as children dreaming of owning one someday.

For me, it started with giving people one final, beautiful ride. 🤍🐴
