I woke up at 4:40 this morning to rain pounding our bedroom window. I shot up in bed and woke Chris up and said, “It’s raining?! It wasn’t supposed to rain!” I literally checked the forecast for the 15th time of the day right before I went to sleep (farmer life…IYKYK).
So like the crazy person I am, I threw on boots and a rain jacket and ran up to the high tunnels to open my rain water collection barrels. I had emptied them yesterday when I used the last of the rain water from Tuesday’s crazy rains, so I was going to have to refill them with city water to irrigate. 🙅🏻♀️ Listen, farming is too expensive to be paying for city water if I can help it!
So long story short– we are getting some pretty good rains this morning that weren’t in the forecast, I got my rain barrels opened up at 4:45 am, and I might be only *slightly* losing my mind over here trying to keep up with Mother Nature’s mood swings this year 🤪
If y’all want to come support our crazy farm and this farmer who’s half losing her mind most days, come on out to get some flowers this weekend! 💐
