Job Title: Farm Operations Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: Smith Farms, Frankfort
About the Role:
We’re seeking a reliable and hardworking Farm Operations Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active, and taking on a wide variety of tasks across the farm. The right candidate will be hands-on, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working both independently and alongside others in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
Support daily farm operations across multiple areas, including maintaining the apple orchard, planting and tending to flowers and vegetables in the greenhouse, and assisting with field work during the growing season. This may include preparing soil, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, and general upkeep to ensure healthy crops and well-maintained grounds.
Operate and maintain tractors, mowers, and other farm machinery and equipment
Perform light mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on tools and equipment
Assist with mowing, trimming, and general property maintenance
Help with irrigation setup and basic facility upkeep as needed
Work safely and efficiently outdoors in all weather conditions
Support other farm-related projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Prior experience in farming, landscaping, greenhouse work, or related outdoor labor preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate and maintain farm equipment
Dependable, self-motivated, and able to take initiative on tasks
Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather
Physically capable of performing manual labor tasks
Schedule:
Part-time, flexible hours
Seasonal variation in workload (more hours during planting and harvest periods)
