When the Cardinals contacted us about a doe for their program, we offered them Sheba (High Lonesome BS She’s a Hit), somewhat reluctantly. Sheba was a favorite from the time she was born and had already earned her restricted leg as a junior. But, having too many does her same age, and knowing she was getting a great home where she would be shown, we knew it would be a good move for her and us. Getting a message with this pic attached was the best ever! Thank you to the Cardinals for getting her out and letting her shine.

While I was updating the website today, I noticed that 3 out of the 4 does we’ve retained from Roy that have been shown have earned their junior legs. One going best in show. Also pictured are 2 of Roy’s daughter’s FF udders from this year as well.

We have 4 daughters and 2 bucklings out of Roy from this year that are available. One buckling is out of a finished champion dam and the others are out of does that only need one more leg. Checkout our website for more info. Open to reasonable offers on remaining kids from this year.

We’re behind on show posts, so I’m doing one for the last two shows we attended. At the end of July we attended the Bluegrass and Bourbon Dairy Goat Classic. This was the first time they have put this show on, and the show staff did an amazing job. Thank you to them and the judges for a great show. We had several good placings. High Lonesome SH Chai Toddy and Primrose Hill EV McKinley 5*M VEEE90 were both first in their class both rings. High Lonesome SH Chai Toddy was reserve champion in ring 1. We’re so proud of how well this first freshener has done this year. High Lonesome SP Abrielle was 2nd ring 1 in her senior kid class of 15 and High Lonesome BS Ruby Tuesday was 4th in her senior yearling class of 13 in ring 1.

This past weekend we attended the Mid Summer Open Dairy Goat Show. We always have fun at this 3 ring show and enjoy seeing everyone each year. Thank you to the judges and show staff for all their work putting on this show. We had a great junior show with High Lonesome BS Ruby Tuesday and High Lonesome RM Hot Tamale both earning their dry leg. High Lonesome MD Calliope was also reserve champion behind Tamale in ring 2. We had good placings with both of our intermediate kids in a large class, and our senior kid High Lonesome SP Abrielle, was 1st in rings 1 and 2. Our senior does had a few good placings, with High Lonesome SH Chai Toddy 1st in rings 1 and 2 and Primrose Hill B Still My Heart 2*M GVEG85 1st in ring 1.

Now it’s time to get ready to put on our show in a few weeks. Be sure to enter, and we hope to see everyone there! Capital City Caprine Classic

Check out this auction for a great cause. A lot of quality animals, semen and other items. It opens in the morning. We have donated a doeling from CH Old Mountain Farm Amalia Quinn and will work with transport or possibly transport ourselves depending on the location. She is Lot 45.
Info on our girl:

High Lonesome SP Aurora

Aurora is a doeling out of
CH Old Mountain Farm Amalia Quinn by CH Farm Oldesouth WP Spectacular *B VEE90. Her dam’s dam is SG Old Mountain Farm Katja Quinn EEEE90 and her dam’s sire is Old Mountain Farm Sayomis *B.

Her sire is out of SGCH AGS Oldesouth Blue Amber 2* M VEEE90 and by GCH Gypsy Moon WP Warparty ++B.

Aurora’s dam is a long, deep bodied doe with a nice, capacious udder. She finished her championship at the second show she had ever been to, going grand in all 3 rings. Amalia has a loaded pedigree, and her dam (Aurora’s granddam) is the full sister to the 2017 ADGA Reserve National Champion, CuAtLilRedBarn Gwen Quinn. Her maternal grandsire was the 2017 ADGA National Get Of Sire and the 2017 ADGA National Premier Sire. Amalia’s also the maternal half sister to the dam of the 2022 spotlight sale buck, Old Mountain Farm Gold Mine, who sold for $30,700.
At 8 years old, Amalia is finally on milk test and will easily earn her star, averaging 5.5 pounds of milk per day at 140 days in milk.

Aurora’s sire, Speckles, was appraised as a 7 year old last year with the appraiser noting that he is still using his feet and legs remarkably well for a buck his age. Speckles dam, Amber, placed 7th in ADGA 2013 Nationals in 3 year old milker class and 8th in ADGA 2014 Nationals as a 4 year old. She is a 2015 Platinum Sue Rucker JuJu milk production award winner, 2013 top 10 production AGS Butterfat.
