David Meier began working in his early teens, he operated a pressure washing service, learned the art of welding, later he worked in corporate America. David's career paths have provided him the skills and financial resources necessary to undertake a once in a lifetime opportunity, breathing life back into the former Old Crow Distillery property as Glenns Creek Distillery in Woodford county, Kentu

cky. Dave has a hands on vision for a blue collar working craft distillery which will produce a collection of white collar taste distilled beverages. Join David and his team as we begin on this journey of restoration! Each return visit to Glenns Creek Distillery will reveal historical artifacts, new improvements to structures and beautification of the sprawling property. Once a year, once every 6 months, once a month each visit will be inspiring.

We got Pete his own home today and he is checking it out. Justin put in a small cricket and Pete got right to work on it. Then I put in a fly and he jumped on it. Emma is having fun with Pete.

The Prime Barrel did a couple of barrel picks and while they were here the filmed an episode for their Prime Barrel Chronicles show on YouTube. They got Flippin' The Bird and Swheat. Check it out. I elucidate on the process of making bourbon too. 😆

It seems that Pete has a really small offspring. It is about the size of a tick. Really super small. It was hard to get the camera to focus because it is so small.

John sent me a link to a news story about the "bourbon virus." I was thinking it had to be a spoof, but it is real, but not what you think. It is a tick-borne virus (another one??) that was first discovered in Bourbon, Kansas. We think the Kentucky Distillers Association should send a cease-and-desist letter to make them change the name.

Ticks spread Bourbon virus. Illness is rare but can be severe.

Emma has befriended a jumping spider and named it "Pete." There is another one in the porta toilet and I named it "Repeat." They are tiny little things. Pete likes to make webs in the gift shop and Emma loves that (not really).

The rain has put a little damper (yes pun very much intended) on the Horsey Hundred bike event today. On a lighter note, we had some Monarchs eclose (hatch) yesterday.

Sue and Ottis Smith came in today and brought a bunch of cheese curds and beef sticks. I was with a group, so they left them for me, and I did not get a chance to thank them. I have scoured our records for their contact info but can't find any. If you are out there Sue and Ottis- THANK YOU!

The Monarch butterflies are here! Our sort of neighbor Liz (from Milleville) who is into Monarchs already had a momma butterfly lay eggs on her milkweed, and she caught the caterpillars and yesterday they were still chrysalis but today they were new hatchlings. We are supposed to let them mature a bit before release, so tomorrow morning, off they go. Stay tuned.
