I wish I had photos! But, once again, there were not enough hours in the day yesterday to get any, so I will post a few ring shots from the show we attended in Little Rock earlier this month (Berlin on the left, and Hide The Wine "Heidi" on the right).

Yesterday was a long and tiring one, but we brought home a new finished champion, TLC-Farms Sweet Berlin, who won her third leg in the first ring she entered, under Judge Kristina Bozzo-Baldenegro.

CH TLC-Farms Majikal Quest topped two of her three Champion Challenge classes (Judges Kristina Bozzo-Baldenegro and Kimberley Fullen), and was named Best Doe in Show in Judge Kristina Bozzo-Baldenegro's ring! I love this doe so much, and she is a dream to show, with a great low-key attitude, and "auto set-up."

And in Judge Kimberley Fullen's ring, our "baby milker" (two year old first freshener) TLC-Farms CA Hide the Wine won her first milking leg. By far one of our tallest, most correct does, who loves to pull me around the ring.

Intermediate Yearling, TLC-Farms CA Halifax, also won her Junior Leg, under Judge Katie Jackson, with herdmate TLC-Farms Swingtime Quinlee winning Reserve. Quinlee's littermate sister, TLC-Farms Swingtime Quiver, won a Reserve Championship in Judge Kimberley Fullen's ring to end a very successful show day.

We are so excited to announce that TLC-Farms Quintessential Q ("Q") has made the westward journey to Wingwood Farm in California, where he will become their new junior herdsire! What an honor this is for us. We have admired and used the Wingwood bloodlines for many years, and feel like they have really helped us reach the level of success we have had here at TLC Farms. Big thanks to Fauna and Karen for your choice of this buck kid!

Day two of the AGPA Diamonds In The Rock dairy goat show and the girls continued to strut their stuff. Hide The Wine, Brooklyn and Berlin each won their classes, and Berlin picked up her second leg towards her permanent championship under Judge Dan Greene. Quest then said, "Hold up there young ladies," and stepped up to win Best of Breed Nubian in both rings. The highlight of the day, though was Quest being named Best Doe in Show under Judge Dan Greene. I am just so proud of all these does, but especially Quest, who carries our herd name on both sides of her pedigree.

Thank you to Judges Dan Laney, Sam Whiteside, Dan Greene and Katelyn Greene for persevering through this marathon of a show, and to the AGPA show committee and volunteers for all your hard work! (And for these beautiful Best In Show buckle cup trophies!)

The goats and I had an amazing first day at the Arkansas Goat Producers Association Diamond In The Rock dairy goat show! In the Senior Doe Show, TLC-Farms Sweet Berlin won her first milking leg under Judge Dan Laney, Swoon Lazy Rayna was named Reserve Champion under Judge Sam Whiteside, and GCH TLC-Farms Majikal Quest was Best of Breed Nubian in both rings. Then, Quest went on to win Best Senior Doe in Show in Dan Laney's ring. In the Junior Doe Show, TLC-Farms CA Haven won both her classes, and was named Reserve Junior Champion under Judge Dan Greene. Tomorrow, we have two more Senior doe shows, followed by a long trip home!

And this is why we always keep a close eye out at this time of year. Lovely adolescent female copperhead. Safely caught and relocated where she won't accidentally envenomate anyone.

We have been participating in the American Dairy Goat Association's Linear Appraisal program for at least the last 25 years, and still find it to be a very useful tool to identify the strengths and weaknesses in our herd. Yesterday, I was able to transport our small herd of milking does to my friend Emily Besser's farm to have them appraised, and was very pleased to see that the TLC Farms herd continues to be structurally strong and correct. From the youngest, to the oldest, here are how they scored:

TLC-Farms MM Garnet (2 YO/1st Freshener): GAVA 81 (Very Good in Head, Shoulder Assembly, Front Legs and Feet)
TLC-Farms LA Brooklyn (3 YO/3rd Freshener): VVVE 89 (Excellent in Feet and Back; Very Good in Front Legs)
Swoon Koriente (3 YO/3rd Freshener): VVEV 88 (Very Good in Shoulder Assembly, Front and Rear Legs, Feet, Back, and Rump)
TLC-Farms Sweet Berlin (4 YO/3rd Freshener): VVEE 90 (Excellent in Back and Rump, Very Good in Shoulder Assembly, Front Legs, and Feet)
GCH TLC-Farms Majikal Quest (5 YO/4th Freshener): VEEE 91 (Excellent in Back and Rump, Very Good in Head, Shoulder Assembly, Front Legs, and Feet)
GCH TLC-Farms TS Harper (5 YO/4th Freshener): VEEE 90 (Excellent in Front Legs, Back and Rump; Very Good in Head, and Shoulder Assembly
GCH TLC-Farms Lovin' Barbados (6 YO/5th Freshener): VVEV 89 (Excellent in Back, Very Good in Head, Rear Legs and Rump)
