Williamson County 4-H will be having their annual Livestock Expo sale in 3 weeks on August 27, 2026.
This is an amazing opportunity to support your local 4-H kids and/or purchase quality meat that was ethically raised. They have worked all year on their projects and it means so much for the community to support them.
The core purpose of a 4-H livestock project is youth development. While kids learn to feed, manage, and show animals like beef cattle, sheep, swine, or goats, the ultimate goal is building core life skills, strong character, and personal responsibility.
My daughters Abigail and Annabelle will be there with their Boer goats. There will be cattle, sheep and goats at the event.
There are many ways that individuals and businesses can be involved.

Key Life Skills Learned with the 4-H Livestock Project
Responsibility: Feeding, watering, and caring for an animal every single day, regardless of the weather or busy schedules.
Work Ethic: Understanding that the quality of the project directly reflects the time, effort, and daily dedication put in.
Resilience: Learning how to cope with setbacks, handle uncooperative animals, and bounce back if a competition does not go as planned.
Record Keeping: Tracking feed costs, medical treatments, and daily expenses to manage an educational budget.
Practical Knowledge GainedAgriculture & Science: Gaining real-world insights into animal biology, nutrition, health, and veterinary practices.
Market Experience: Participating in local exhibitions and auctions to learn about the food production chain and public communication.
Confidence: Presenting the animal in showmanship classes helps youth speak up, act calmly under pressure, and trust their training.
