Umbarger Feed Specialist Eric King’s recommendation: weigh pigs, sheep, and goats once a week, and cattle every two weeks. Whether you weigh in the morning or evening, before or after feeding, keep the routine consistent so you’re comparing weights taken under similar conditions.

Then write it down. A notebook, a whiteboard in the barn, or an app can help you track dates and weights. Having that history in front of you makes it easier to spot changes and see how your project is progressing toward your goals.
