It’s been a wonderfully warm, rainy week here at the farm. This is everything we could’ve asked for after an unseasonably cool, dry May.

We’re in the full rhythm of summer now: cut, bunch, deliver, sow, prep, plant, repeat. 🌱 💐

After two years of failed attempts, we have finally captured our spring! Sometimes it takes leaving the project on the back burner for months on end until you’re threatened with drought to come back with refreshed creativity and a new game plan.

Will and the guys built a dam in the creek bed with a pipe set to divert the water into holding tanks that will then be pumped up to the fields to water our plants.

Anyhoo, we have a beautiful haul of whimsical flowers headed to market tomorrow! Be sure to make it out to support your local farmers and makers!

Happy Easter/ Passover week! 🌸🌷🐣

I’m not sure what I’m more proud of, the amount of flowers we have in the first week of April or the fact that most of what I planned actually came in on time!

In farming there’s a lot of variance between what’s on the spreadsheet and what comes to be. Luckily we’ve got a strong crew to help push the vision and make it happen!

Last November Will built 5 new 16’ x 100’ tunnels in one week, and a sixth one the week after. This is our first spring with over 11,000 square feet of covered growing space and these flowers are the result!

Celebrate the first day of spring with locally grown flowers! 🌷💐🌸🍀

We got the full spectrum of what “spring” can throw at us this week. 80 degrees -> to wind gusts up to 60 mph -> snow and 23 degrees -> back to 80 degrees- in 7 days!

These types of fluctuations are equally hard on humans and plants, but both are quite resilient! We still have a beautiful lineup for the market stand. 💐

Other honorable mentions for the week: we’ve got our first plot chisel plowed for planting next week! And the horses came to visit us in the front yard. Yeehaw! 🤠

Hitting temps that are mid 70s-80 in early March makes it really tempting to run out and start all the seeds and it feels like we’re way behind schedule…..but experience (and lots of spreadsheets) tell us otherwise!
