2 back feet sticking out usually spells disaster. A quick call home of “put your 4-H calves up and get over here.” Calf out backwards and our biggest enemy now is flies… there’s a reason we don’t calve cows in the summer and trust me I’m not happy about cows being late calving. But, we worked as a team and we have calf breathing and starting life.

Charles started a barn repair job for us today. He just absolutely nailed the dirt excavation for us! Ready to jack some posts, set new and put up some new wall boards. Love the first picture! Indiana! Red barns and a basketball hoop.

Can’t make hay. Can’t cut wheat or bale straw. Might as well build fence.

A couple quotes come to mind- “Plant in the dust and the bins will bust” and “plant in the mud and the crop will be a dud.” I’m not sure those apply all that well scientifically, especially to sweet corn but I know what the calendar say. I know what the weather forecast shows. I know that after school starts back sweetcorn sales always take a hit. So, the seed trench is crumbling we aren’t sticking to the tires too bad and the dice gets rolled. Out first planting is looking great and subsequent plantings are fair. Stay tuned.
