What do we farm? Sometimes I don’t know anymore. Load of straw (rented), shelled corn and cornstalks loaded for an event at Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Mooresville. Plus some Century hay feeders arrived to get assembled and sold, no not the whole load. Amanda would faint when she saw the bill!

Off to get some more field drainage tile covered. It’s a blessing to be busy.

Some jobs are funner and more glamorous than others. Couple hundred feet of drainage tile to drain a wet hole in a field edge. Going to be some hand shoveling up next. Would be a perfect opportunity for the kids to help but The National FFA Convention is happening. Fun fact FFA stands for-Fathers Farm Alone. 🤣 Of course that’s a joke and we are happy they get experiences away from home.

We’ve been told this was our (great and 2nd great) grandfather’s tractor. Henry Otis Canary. He died in 1942 so the dates of the tractor would make sense. Words cannot describe how I’d like to have that as there are no farming Canary descendants left. Can we get it? Boy we’d like that very much.

It’s old and it’s brittle but it’s clean. If we can get this old clay drainage tile a new clean outlet it’ll still give us a long time of use. Every little bit helps.

We’ve been busy on cool mornings assembling Century Products Hay Feeders. Several styles available for cattle and horses. Numerous of each style available, fully assembled and ready to use. Please let us know how we can assist you.

Cows. There’s a lot of talking heads asking how we shift ag policy to bring another generation to the farm or at least have some involvement in the farm. Cows are the answer, for us we think. No more tearing fencerows out, it’s time to manage fencerows and rebuild fences.

This has proved to be a project! After struggling to find parts for the original Techunseh engine we decided to get busy putting a new engine in. I’d say the original engine didn’t owe us a dime as it’s clocked almost 9,600 hours! This has been a project, the exhaust, fabricating and making it all fit and function has taken some time and thought. This has been a huge team effort requiring some help from kids with smaller arms.

Saying goodbye to Berk this morning. He was a loyal friend. Never met a stranger. Was the guardian of the barn keeping the cats chased. Quick to alert of nearby sirens. Greeter of all who stopped in. Never missed a chance for a nap in the shade. He lived a very full 13 years and was the perfect farm dog.

This fence needs some attention before we can turn cows out on the cornstalks. Hopefully we timed our endeavor well to get it cleaned up so we can work on it.
