The past few days have been full of the best of the indoors and the best of the outdoors- inside was all the coziness, slowness, and creativity that comes with a snowy few days, and outside was the wonderland of sledding and snow-wrestling, the exploring of the creek, the rock collecting, the snow hiking. It's made all the more fun because of the nearness of spring, and we tried to soak it all up!

🌱 We're dreaming and scheming for spring 🌱 and want to share the growing love! FREE SEEDS with direct sales from us until we're out!

TROMBONCINO SQUASH (aka zucchino rampicante): 2 reasons why these crazy curcubits are just my favorite players in our garden!

1. They're an heirloom variety from Italy, and are resistant to squash bugs, squash vine borers, and powdery mildew- all common + difficult issues around here! (Those vine borers... 🤢)

2. They can be eaten in summer like a regular summer squash BUT you can also leave them on the vine to ripen (and become enormous) and store/use as winter squash! We looove to save some of these bad boys for right around December/January and then process them to use for delicious baked goods and soups. And then of course, harvest the hundreds of seeds from each one to snack on or share the tromboncino love with a friend later!

In a smaller garden, these squash really give you such a big "bang for your buck", and they're so good-natured for anyone new to gardening! We trellis these on cattle panels and set 'em free for summer to get wild and lovely! Easy-going and produces a lot of food for the footprint.

These chickies have been enjoying soaking up some sun today- any reprieve from the dreary days is cause for celebration! 🌄
