The latest project included an old Rubbermaid trough!

Still a few things to do, like support the ramp and put some support under the trough.

In case you're wondering, we're getting ducks soon for the south garden! I've already started working on their house.

Duck p**p water is great for plants, which is why I added a spigot on the trough.

Now that the rabbit colony is done, it's time to start on the next project!

Started the morning off with a chicken processing class.

This afternoon, put up a new sprinkler system for the livestock. Whew, it's hot! I'm sure they'll appreciate it. ❀️

Had to get creative this morning.

The tarp on the hoop house needed replacing, but everyone was off at appointments. I took to old one down, lined up the new one, then used rachet straps to pull the new tarp over. It worked like a charm!

Now to work more on the rabbit colony...

Last year, a friend gave me a monkey ball, aka air potato, to grow. Well, it did great and produced a few more monkey balls. I brought this one inside at the end of the summer and set it on the desk beside where I work.

The monkey ball has been growing lately! Literally sitting on my desk growing! Crazy, huh?

Guess I'll go put it in some soil...

πŸŒ±πŸ’œ New Video from McPhetridge Family Farms πŸ’œπŸŒ±

Today we’re continuing our Heirloom Planting Series by showing how we take purple sweet potato slips off the potatoes, prepare them for planting, and get them established in the ground.

These are organic Stokes purple sweet potatoes that we purchased from Sprouts and chose specifically because they have not been sprayed with chemicals.

Our goal with this series is to help families learn practical skills that lead to greater food security, self-sufficiency, and a deeper connection to where our food comes from.

Heirloom growing is about more than gardening β€” it’s about preserving knowledge and passing it on to the next generation.

We hope this video encourages you to try growing your own food right where you are. 🌱

We did a LOT of work securing the rabbit colony over the past few days. Now that we feel the cats can no longer get in or rabbits get out, we introduced rabbits back to the colony.
