Hello everyone. I live in the dark blue of this map (I added a little yellow dot to show my location) and I have to share some info with you as there is so much untruth on social media.
There are people all over the mountains helping, working, sharing, caring, loving and doing anything and everything they can to help the people of our region. FEMA is here, our state and local governments are here, churches are here, the Red Cross is here, charitable groups of all kinds are here, local businesses are here, our neighbors and friends and strangers(from all over)are here- all doing everything they can. Overwhelmingly, the beauty of this tragedy is the helpers and the community of human beings coming together.
I’m sure there are some things that have not gone well. This is a tragedy of unforeseen levels. A once in a 1000 year event has come to our region. Yes helicopters have been turned away but if you saw how many military, government and medical helicopters are flying here, you’d understand why adding personal ones could create more harm than good. There has to be some amount of coordination.
Overwhelmingly- the good and the best of mankind has shown up in these mountains and I for one am so thankful. Please don’t distort and spread things that aren’t true or helpful to the efforts here.
