Call it an education, right of passage or slave labor. Either way it was Tux’s turn to take his maiden voyage. Farming on the 7th day of February. If this is climate change I’ll take it all day long…

🐑 NOW TAKING PRE-ORDERS: Premium Fleeces from Sage Creek Targhee!

👋🏻Hello from Sage Creek Targhee in Frannie, Wyoming! We are now accepting pre-orders for our upcoming shearing day. Reserve your fleece grown in the wide-open High Desert of the northern Bighorn Basin.

We have bred our flock for consistency—our sheep "keep the belly wool where it belongs," ON THE BELLY. We shear and skirt these fleeces ourselves to ensure you are only paying for prime fiber.🏆

✨ THE LUXURY LIST: Virgin Lamb Fleeces
Micron: 17.0 – 20.5
This will be the first shear for our ewe lambs. Fleece will be the softest, finest wool they will ever grow.

🧶 THE CLASSIC LIST: Mature Ewe Fleeces
Micron: 20.0 – 22.5
Fleeces will be fine, high-yielding, and dense white wool, offering a soft, lofty, and elastic fiber ideal for many purposes. It is known for its "springy" texture and 3–4 inch staple length, making it easy to spin and durable.

The Sage Creek Standard:
✅ OFDA Verified: We include a photo of the individual lab report for every fleece.
✅ Expertly Skirted: Fleece will be uniform for grade and length, and grease tags are removed.
✅ Top-Line Removed: We skirt the top line to help remove as much VM as possible.
✅ Sound & Springy: Every fleece passes our "ping" test.
✅ Honest VM: Typical High Desert Wyoming range; easy to work with.

📦 Shipping & Payment:
Customer pays all shipping costs. Shipping is available via USPS/UPS from Frannie. To get a shipping estimate, please provide your zip code.
Payment via Venmo.

Ram lambs are doing well with these warm temperatures we are having lately. As you can see in the video, we do not feed high powered rations. No grain either, just good quality grass alfalfa hay. Looking forward to shearing these guys next month.

5:30 AM and Tux is milking his goat. His kidding season got off to a rough start. He lost a set of twins out of the blue goat. He is keeping her fresh until lambing the end of April when he will start feeding the few bum lambs that we end up with.
With loss of the twins from the blue goat, Tux was given a boer doeling from the Smith family. A great big thanks to them for their generosity!

His percentage however rocketed right back up to 200% with the red goat having a set of quads.

Yesterday we sat down with pencil and paper to work on his business financials. If he sticks with it, this kid will have a nice sized bank account by the time he graduates for seed money to start any business he wants.

Finally…
The last load of hay for the year. The way this Fall has been shaping up I will hopefully have WAY too much to get through the winter with. The next two items in the hit list are an irrigation system for next year to increase tonnage to graze more through the winter and a hay shed to protect what hay don’t get used.

The National Ram Sale is done for another year. Laura and I couldn’t be more pleased with how everything went! We sold the high selling Targhee ram and averaged just shy of $1,000 on 9 rams. Thank you to our supporters, bidders, and buyers.

There is a whole host of people to acknowledge, too many to mention! The sale committee and volunteers make this sale such a success. Thanks to Superior Farms and the Maneotis family for the outstanding meals. We are so happy how the NRS Foundation is shaping up and can’t wait to see how we can help young producers grow! Ask me how that works!

We have a whole new crop of prospects growing and we will be making breeding groups soon to start the process all over. See you in 2026!
