At Turtle Dove Produce we have been growing, custom picking and bringing Organically grown Watermelons to the Farmers Markets for some years...
Would anyone at the Canal Market District want us to grow and bring more Watermelons??
Well...first we have to lay plastic by hand. Usually there is an applicator used for this that is attached to a tractor...Since we don't have an applicator, we put down our irrigation drip tube and plastic by hand.....
So we took some time lapse videos. Otherwise it takes about an hour to get one row of tubing and plastic ready for planting ...
It's a physical marathon and we plan on putting in six rows to plant hundreds of plants in about 650+ total feet of rows...
Enjoy the funny little videos and sure wish we could get it done that fast, hypothetically.....

CMD stands for Canal Market District ...n we at Turtle Dove Priduce may have enough flowers to spell out the full name of the Newark Farmers Market but we just used some of our Hanging Baskets to spell out the initials, CMD, in a Colorful way.....
And, of course, 250 is the number of years this nation has endured since it's Independence way back in 1776.....
And what's also Very Important...Mothers Day is just around the corner!! So there's a lot to Celebrate...the Canal Market District Farmers Market just turned 10 years of Newark, Ohio Community Addition last year...the United States is 25 times more in age...annnd Mothers definitely deserve to be Honoured and Celebrated!!!
Let's make the best of it All and Appreciate Community Involvement n Togetherness!!

Having a nice time putting together some cute arrangements of flowers and houseplants...while tending to hundreds of hanging baskets and urns for the Friday, May 1st Grand Opening of the 2026 Outdoor CMD Farmers Market season! Looking forward to some more Pavilion memories!
Might have a Sneak Peak of some of our hanging baskets at the Indoor Arcade Market tomorrow.....

Got out flower pots and trays of flowers and veggies in our little hoop house. Glad it was enduring and standing it's ground! Was going to cover and somehow heat our early planted tomato plants, but decided to carefully dig the back out and hope we can replant them later...For Canal Market District and Olde Pickerington Farmers' Market

So now it's time to accept what happened and try and figure out how to save the flowers, tomato plants, etc. since there is no more greenhouse to heat and keep them going. For Canal Market District and Olde Pickerington Farmers' Market .....

Another video for our friends and patrons at Canal Market District and Olde Pickerington Farmers' Market . So, the south side of the greenhouse was loosing hold while the 30 to 50 mph wind was blowing from the southwest. We had already spent over an hour trying to secure it but needed more hardware to do so. Our son went to the hardware store, I was resting and praying in the house not knowing how much I should keep going recovering from a hernia operation. Jean was in the greenhouse by her self and trying to hold it down with her foot pressure and away she went!!

Had update videos to post of the progress we have been making in the greenhouse for the 2026 season for Canal Market District and Olde Pickerington Farmers' Market and then this happened...Will post a few videos of the situation and would appreciate your thoughts and prayers that we can rebuild, repair and recover under the circumstances...Thanks, Lou and Jean.....

Well...looks like Jean and I are going for another year doing Farmers Markets...
Our main Market is in Newark at the Canal Market District on Fridays. We also plan to do some marketing at Granville on Tuesdays. Then we plan to attend the Olde Pickerington Farmers' Market some, as well, which is on Thursdays...
Didn't know if we could start on time, in May, due to getting a necessary operation done soon enough...Operation is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, February 20th. Wish it could of been done earlier but it should barely work out in time to pull off all the preparations that are involved to attend the Markets for the 2026 season...
So, hoping for the best...What else can an ailing old man do! Believe it's better to stay active anyway and still try to continue doing what we like to do.....
And we Enjoy the Community contact that the Markets provide...staying in touch with friends, being the Market patrons and fellow vendors! And look forward to making New friends! Hope it works out to play a little music as well...
Plus, it's a Centennial year ta boot!!
Gonna try n make the best of it.....

Happy December n last month of 2025!
Turtle Dove Produce here and we have tried to post some videos of our winter cleanup in our greenhouse for the 2026 season.
Unfortunately they don't post together so we will have to post three of them in Commenting to ourselves. So check out the first three comments as well.....
We are in a stage to do our annual soil tests so we can add organic fertilizer and supplements to grow our Early Tomatoes that we have featured for 8 years.
Also in the greenhouse, we have our Everbearing Strawberry plants in stackers. We are trying out an experiment to keep them in the greenhouse without providing heat for them as much as before. And just keeping them watered and hoping for the best.
We have also ordered our flowers and plants for hundreds of hanging baskets to choose from and houseplants as well.
Why?? To get ready for the 2026 Centennial year for the Canal Market District and other Farmers Markets as well!!
Looking forward to another Market Season in hopes that we can provide wholesome Produce and Fruits and add Colorful flowers for our Market Friends and Patrons.....

Well, the curtian has dropped, last night and tonight will fall to the 20's...So we picked the rest of our tomatoes in the greenhouse, green or ripe, n going to let it freeze out!
And going to try and experiment with the strawberry plants, over 1,000 of them, in the greenhouse to see how they winter over.....
