Sons and Daughters Homestead

Sons and Daughters Homestead locally grown and made, pastured, chicken, lamb, eggs, soap & other good things In addition to taking care of our homestead, like a lot of farmers, we work too.

We have a variety of growing experience and now operate from our 25-acre farm in Northwestern Wisconsin. Some fun things about us:
We have 7 children – and yes they are all ours after being married over 20 years now. During a season in our lives as independent contractors while we had 6 children, we lived in 11 places in 8 years before we landed here in Frederic. We have a lot of animals, with she

ep, chickens, an aussie-border collie, and a cat, and dream of more! We produce lamb, chicken, eggs, and soap, and are working on a variety of other homemade goods and dairy products. Josh works as a mentor for the state of Wisconsin helping people coming out of addiction or who might have mental health needs of all ages, but primarily young boys and teens. Sarah Beth formerly did mentoring as well before choosing to spend more time at home with the family and work as a reporter and columnist for the local paper, the Inter-County Leader. We are available for delivery or local pickup. Give us a call or text to 715-733-1117 (Sarah) or 651-350-8379 (Josh) to set up. You can also stop the homestead at 3417 90th St, Frederic, WI 54837. We are closed on Sundays. We sell our products on site at the homestead and at the two Burnett County Farmers’ Markets we attend in the summertime. On Wednesdays, we will be at the Log Cabin Store and Eatery in Danbury, WI, and Saturdays at the Adventures Church parking lot in Siren, WI. We’ve also expanded to sell soap in to a retail location in 2022, the Log Cabin Resort in Trego, WI. See our website for more about our animals and offerings!

BIG UPDATE: In about two weeks I am archiving the homestead page. While we continue to homestead, we have decided for our family well being and privacy we would like to switch to word of mouth on off property sales. If you are a current customer feel free to DM us and I will get you contact info if you need it to stay in touch. Also, we are not currently selling but contemplating the summer season next year, as our license has lapsed and we are not USDA prcessing our animals now, but butchering ourselves. We will consider bartering though, and that is still legal.

This year we are taking some time off from the markets and not selling anything for now. We still have all our animals and the farm, we just need a breather for a while and will be producing only for ourselves over the next bit. Thank you all for understanding.

Trying my hand at Sourdough Starter after picking up a local recipe book from the Forts. Already made cinnamon rolls and they were very popular with all the kids!

Wanted to start sharing a little more of our day to day. Today we lost one of the new twin lambs. Here’s what we did to take care of the survivor.

Also, on another funny note, it was -14 out this morning and half of our flock of sheep were sleeping outside the barn. Josh said he thought they might be half-frozen to the ground, but when he shouted, “Sheep, sheep!” The way he does every morning, they were like, “Wut?” They’re fine. Weirdos.

Josh told me he felt like he was in the hair salon this week on the homestead. While lambing season is one of his favorite times of the year, ours has started a little earlier that usual, and a few of our early lambs were born in the freezing temps we had this week. Apparently this cold snap has been breaking 5 year record lows. They are fine but apparently by the time we got to the two of them even though they dropped in the barn the coating on them had frozen to their little bodies 🥶🐑 Being a good shepherd, my husband took my hair dryer out there and gave them a good blow dry until he could wipe them off 😆💈

Look at our cute new little lambs born this week. The white one is a girl and the little one curled up is too. They are so sweet! Also check out how big the first lamb born around Christmas has gotten! The kids call him Buddy.

Does anyone else still have a tree up in their house? We had the mother of all things breaking week between cars and appliances, everyone got sick, and also 5 adorable new little lambs born this week! I guess we are just trying to stretch the festivities out over here until Valentine’s or something. 🤦‍♀️❤️🤪🎄
