Mid fall now and a lot of the apples have now ripened. We have a lot of varieties available this weekend:
Honeycrisp - everyone knows and loves a honeycrisp. They are the most asked for apple and for good reason. They are good for fresh eating, baking, c***r, sauce. All of the above.
Harralson - a personal favorite among many here at the orchard. They are not super sweet but they are good for fresh eating and baking.
Sweet sixteen - super sweet apple for fresh eating. A favorite among many of our regulars.
Cortland - soft apple, good for baking and apple sauce. They have a purple outside when ripe which is fun.
Connell reds - these are a favorite for one of my sisters. They are right in the middle for everything. They don't crispy when you bite into them but they are firm. They are not super sweet but not sour either. They are big apples though so they make great pies because you don't have to peel and chop as much.
Regent - great for fresh eating, and an all around good apple.
Macintosh - iconic apple that's been around for a long time. They are slightly softer and not super sweet but they provide great flavor for pies and other baked goods.
