✨️ Burnt Hill Farm 🍷

Wow. What an experience I had on my birthday yesterday. When you arrive at the farm, you immediately feel the love, passion, sweat, and tears that the 3 sibling owners have put into this decade-long project. From the owners of Old Westminster, you have Burnt Hill Farm, a new tasting room in Clarksburg, MD.

Everything they do is intentional, and man has it paid off. The experience was ethereal, and I have nothing but admiration for the team behind it. Including Chef Tae Strain, who has big plans for the kitchen in the near future.

You are greeted by kind staff and a glass of Blanc de Blancs and then a short tour of the property along with notes of how they operate. Then you make your way into the tasting room where you get 3 tastings of their Estate wines. My favorite, the Regent that was just released last week. You also get garden snacks to complete the experience. Not to mention if you book around 3pm you get an amazing view and golden hour of Sugarloaf Mountain as you enjoy your wine.

Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I look forward to their future growth. They are booked into 2026 so if you're interested take a peek at their website. 🥂

A cool, fall evening calls for a glass of red wine. 🥰🍷LOVE this time of year.

Trying a wine my parents brought me back from Italy. A Tuscan blend, Bartolomeo, made with Sangiovese and Cab Sauv. It is more light and fruity than I expected with a lot of cherry and blackberry notes. 🍇🍒

Let's chat about making wine ✨️accessible✨️

These days, everyone is trying to watch their spending. Spending less on a bottle of wine doesn't necessarily mean you have to stick with what I call "gas station selections." 👀 I'm looking at you, Barefoot.

Someone recently suggested a $70 bottle of Valpolicella to me, which isn't super pricey but also may make someone choose a cutwater over a bottle of wine. So, instead, I picked up this $18 bottle from Frederick Wine House. It's still delicious and a good comparison.

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be trying and reviewing more accessible wines that are still complex, flavorful, and enjoyable for all. Stay tuned!

I always say, taste wine in whatever way you desire. But if you're looking to go another level and break down what you're tasting, here are some notes you can reflect on as you sip. 🍷

Whenever I host tastings, this matrix comes with me so we can walk through different notes together! There are no wrong answers, everyone's taste buds are different. 😀

Happy Wine Wednesday! 🍷

Wow. I really have been absent from this page for a while. I'm not going to lie, as someone with anxiety, I got really nervous about posting recommendations. "What if I don't know enough?" "What if I'm wrong about notes" etc. So I stepped away. BUT, I'm back and just going to post what I like and share a bit about what makes wine so amazing to me.

So, give me your recommendations for Maryland or Virginia Vineyards to visit, wines to try, shops to buy from etc. Looking forward to an amazing summer of wine! 🥂

Happy Wine Wednesday! 🍷 Today, I'm still tasting through South Africa and trying Mulderbosch Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc that I picked up from Frederick Wine House. So good!

How do you wine down after work? For me it's a few minutes ALONE with a glass of wine. 😂😂 Sometimes it doesn't work out that way with 2 active, loud kids in the house.
