Tell me about Jack Seed & Supply getting started in the business/origin story:

In 2017 Golden Harvest Seeds set up Kelly Jack as an independent seed supplier, thus kickstarting the journey that would become the Jack Seed & Supply people recognize today.

What makes Jack Seed & Supply unique in the seed business?

While we’re a small family owned business we’re aligned as distributors with two of the best seed dealers out there and are able to get our hands on any seed product to meet the needs of any farming, ranching, or homestead application. We also have the education to be able to aid in all of those areas, with years of practical and academic experience in farming and ranching we know how to navigate the ups and downs of the agricultural world. So you get that home grown service while still having the expertise and variety of a big chain.

What’s your favorite part about being involved in seeds and agriculture?

Being able to have conversations with growers who are looking for change or solution. Getting to know and walk along those farmers and aid in their success is one the most rewarding aspects of what we do.

What are your favorite Golden Harvest Seeds hybrids/varieties and why?

G09Y24-DV and G10L16-DV are two of our favorites for their ability to produce in our hot and dry climate with limited irrigation.

Tell me about Norman Agri-Products getting started in the business/origin story:
I (Jay Norman) am a 4th generation farmer and started selling seed in college. We are an independent ag retailer selling crop protection and fertilizer in addition to seed throughout Texas. We also farm wheat, corn, and soybeans in Northeast Texas.

What makes Norman Agri-Products unique in the seed business?
We are farmers ourselves. All seed is planted on our farm before we sell it. We are customer service focused and care about each customer to help them find what is right for their operation.

What’s your favorite part or memory about being involved in seeds and agriculture?
The friends I have made over the years and the relationships I have with the next generations working on those farms.

G16K01-3111 - Old school tough/durable
G10L16 - Extremely drought tolerant with great flex.
G13U96 - Great test weight and top end.
G4222 - Consistent in yield and setting four bean pods.

Name: Wright Seed
Location: Blackwell, OK

What got you into growing/selling corn?

I was managing the local grain elevator out of college and was approached about becoming a seed dealer since I already had a relationship with quite a few farmers in the area.

What makes Wright Seed unique in the seed business?

Nothing is really unique. I treat every farmer the same. I want the guy that only plants 80 units of beans to have the same experience and relationship with me as a guy that plants 3,000. The farmer is my top priority.

What’s your favorite part and favorite memory about what you do?

Competing for business is my favorite part. I’m very competitive and that keeps me engaged in the business. Favorite memory in agriculture would be going with Mapel Harvesting on a custom cutting crew for a few years. Meeting all the different types of people, terrain and operations was great.

What’re your favorite Golden Harvest Seeds corns and beans?

Favorite corns are G16k01-3111, G16q82-DV and 13u29-V.

Favorite beans are GH4766XFS, GH4944XFS, GH4882XFS, and GH4775E3S.

Why, is because they have shown they work in Oklahoma, and the price is right, and that’s what matters.

Name: Brockriede Seeds
Location: Frederick, OK

What got you into growing/selling corn?

We really needed something other than wheat and cotton in Tillman County for economic and crop rotation purposes. 10 years ago or so 4-5 farming families in the area reached out to a corn seed company and planted a crop. Following that first year, I became interested in the seed business and became a dealer. Seeing 80-90+ bushel dryland yields in some years has continued to be exciting for us and the future of corn here.

What’re your favorite parts about what you do?

My favorite moments about farming and selling seed are getting to work with family and neighbors on a daily basis. I really enjoy bringing new ideas and innovation to reality in agriculture. The whole community is really there to support each other at the end of the day.

What’s your favorite Golden Harvest Seeds hybrid?

My favorite hybrid is G09Y24-DV because of how it performs in both the better and the worse years. People quit planting corn within our area due to aflatoxin eating our lunch and the Viptera trait in 09Y has really changed the game allowing us to grow corn with cleaner ears and lower aflatoxin levels.
