🚨🚨WE WANT YOUR TRASH!!!🚨🚨

Did you know that we can make good use of several different things that people normally just throw away? Just a few of those items are things like:
Vegetable trimmings - You know, that part of the celery you usually just cut off and throw away? Perfect pig food!
Vegetables that are a little past their prime - When you forget about them in the drawer and they go just a little bit past what you’re comfortable eating, as long as they aren’t moldy, our pigs will LOVE them!
Your Halloween pumpkin on November 1st when you’re ready to get rid of it. As long as it doesn’t have any paint, dye, candle wax, toothpicks (or any sort of non-food accessory that gets added to create your amazing designs), or other things like that, they go hog wild over them.
There are only a few veggies that pigs CAN’T have - Raw potatoes and skins, raw beans, onions, garlic, leeks, tomato and pepper plant vines, etc. if you aren’t sure, just ask!

If you live in the Fredericksburg area, you can put these trimmings and things in a bag in the freezer so they stay good. Just keep adding to it until you have a decent amount saved up and let us know. We’ll arrange a time to come pick them up!

We can also always use things like:
Those clear, quart sized containers (with lids) that the soup from Chinese restaurants always comes in, plastic coffee cans, plastic snack containers like what UTZ pretzels and snack mixes come in, things like that. Containers like these are perfect for mixing and preparing feed for the pigs.

We would love our local friends to set aside any of these types of containers and we can coordinate picking them up from you.

I love showing pictures like this. A lot of people may not know that pigs are very efficient at clearing out overgrown underbrush. They don’t mind thorns, poison ivy, or any of the other things that would make it difficult for humans to get in there to clear out. As an added bonus, they will dig up and eat a lot of the root systems to help minimize the plants coming back in the future. They can’t reach as high as goats, but they will still eat just about everything they can reach.

Back in November, after Halloween, we collected pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns from local folks once they were done with them so we could feed them to the pigs. We noticed today that we have two pumpkin plants that have started to grow in their paddock area. Hopefully they will leave the plants alone long enough for them to actually start producing new pumpkins.
