What can a dry spring and a field of waiting crops teach us about faith?

In their latest article for Lancaster Farming, Rich and Carol Bernstein reflect on the patience built into God's creation and how it mirrors our own need to trust His timing and provision. Through observations from the farm and lessons from Scripture, their thoughtful piece offers encouragement for anyone navigating a season of waiting.

We hope you'll take a moment to read their article and be encouraged by the reminder that God's timing is always faithful, even in seasons of waiting.

Drought-stressed crops demonstrate God’s patient design, inspiring believers to trust his timing, wait faithfully and rely on his provision.

Over the past 90 days, our new Executive Director, Jordan Martin, has witnessed firsthand what makes First Fruits Farm so special: a community united by faith, service, and generosity.

Volunteers, donors, staff, and distribution partners each play an important role in helping us fulfill our mission and provide fresh food to those who need it most. Together, you make the impact we have in our communities possible.

As we look toward the future and the next season of growth, we remain grateful for the foundation built by Rich and Carol Bernstein and for each of you who continue to help us serve others in Christ's name.

Thank you for being part of this mission. 🌱

Did you know the Farm has a care farming program? 🌱

The Flourish Project at First Fruits Farm creates inclusive opportunities for individuals of all abilities to learn, serve, and grow—helping them flourish physically, spiritually, and emotionally through meaningful work and community.

In partnership with organizations like Penn-Mar Human Services, Trellis Services, Sheppard Pratt School of Autism, Blooming Hearts, Target Community & Educational Services, Inc., and The Children's Guild - Transformation Academy, participants learn to grow and harvest crops in raised garden beds, greenhouse spaces, and in a new Flourish field as well as help pack healthy donated food, including bread from H&S Bakery and pasta from Blessings of Hope.

This spring, Baltimore Hunger Project joined the Popeyes Foundation and Feed the Children as part of the nationwide SERVING WITH LOVE® Tour. During their Baltimore stop, hundreds of families received a 25-pound box of food, a 15-pound box of household essentials, and additional resources to support their households.

A tremendous THANK YOU to Baltimore Hunger Project for partnering with the Farm for this distribution and to the Popeyes Foundation and Feed the Children for their generosity!

We're grateful for partnerships like these that help get nutritious food and essentials into the hands of families across our community.

We invite you to read Carol and Rick’s latest article for Lancaster Farming, "Faith and Fields Need the Right Tools for Cultivation". Their thoughtful piece reflects on the tools needed not only to cultivate the land, but also to cultivate faith by finding common ground. 🌱🚜

As we survey new spiritual ground that needs plowing, let’s remember to take time to assess the ground, inquire of the Lord, and share the reason for the hope we

🚜🥔 What a blessing! The Farm just received 40,000 lbs. of potatoes all the way from Idaho! As we wait for our fields to begin producing this season, this fresh produce will help us continue sharing nutritious food with our neighbors facing hunger.

Join us this Saturday, May 16 from 9:00–11:30 AM as we box potatoes for distribution and help share the bounty with our community. We’d love to have you serve alongside us!

Volunteer season kicked off last month, and the Farm is already buzzing with planting and fresh energy in the fields. As we welcome teams back — and greet new ones for the first time — we’re excited to share that three groups have taken their commitment a step further by becoming Cornerstone Partners of 2026:

🌱 F&G
🌱 Hunt's Memorial United Methodist Church
🌱 Sessa & Dorsey - Estates & Trusts Law Firm

Some have served with us for years, others are brand‑new—but each chose to deepen their impact right as the first seeds of the season go into the ground. That’s the story of this mission: people showing up, growing with us, and helping feed our neighbors in bigger ways.

We’re grateful for their partnership and excited for all we’ll grow together in 2026.
