A second graze on the cover crops!

The cows have moved on from this section of cover crops and are headed to their next paddock.

We’re hoping for a little more rain soon so we can keep these sections growing and get even more grazing out of them!

Rotational grazing is a big part of how we care for both our animals and our land.

By moving the cows regularly, we’re able to:

🌱 Give the plants time to rest, recover, and regrow
🌧️ Help build healthier soil and make better use of the moisture we receive

Why do we raise our pigs on pasture?

Because pigs should be able to do what pigs naturally do.

That means rooting in the soil, exploring their surroundings, soaking up fresh air and sunshine, and having room to roam.

These natural behaviors are an important part of their well being, and we love watching them do exactly what they were created to do.

And about the mud...

Believe it or not, pigs aren't rolling in mud because they're dirty, they're cooling off!

Pigs don't sweat like we do, so a nice mud wallow helps regulate their body temperature and even protects their skin from the sun and insects.
