It is with the heaviest heart that we share the news about our dear friend Brock Kimmet. Brock died unexpectedly this past Wednesday. He died doing what he loved, working with his family to help a friend. We will miss his smile, his laughter, his conversations, his nicknames, his kindness, his generosity, his thoughtfulness, and his steady presence.

Brock loved people. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He made friends with anyone who came into contact with him. He cared sincerely about the lives of his family and friends. His chief concern for people he loved was that they knew God. Brock believed that the best thing for the people that he loved was knowing who God is and believing in Jesus.

We will miss Brock deeply, but we do not despair. We have hope. We believe we will see Brock again. “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

I last talked with Brock on Monday 4-18-22, our conversation went like this:

I walk in Brock’s store, and overhear him and the UPS delivery man saying something about church. The UPS man says he needs to get back on his route and says goodbye. I sit down and Brock looks at me:

“What’s on your mind, Drewski?” He says
“Not much, what were you just talking about?” I ask
“Well, every time that UPS guy comes in here, he wants to talk about Jesus.”
“Really?” I ask “What did you talk about?
“We talked about how it is not enough to be a ‘good person’ to get into heaven” Brock said
“Well then, what does it take to get into heaven?” I ask
“You need to sincerely believe, really believe in your heart in Jesus, in what he did,in order to get into heaven” said Brock
“I believe that, do you believe that Brock?” I ask
“Yes, I do believe that.” he affirmed
“And how do you know if someone really believes this Brock?” I ask
“He will live differently.” Brock concluded.

This was the last thing Brock and I talked about.

You too can have the same hope as we do. Friends, Brock knew the most important truth in the world.

Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." We have all sinned. We have all done things that are displeasing to God. There is no one who is innocent.

Romans 6:23a, teaches us about the consequences of sin - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." The punishment that we have earned for our sins is death. Not just physical death, but eternal death!

Romans 6:23b , "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:8 declares, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ died for us! Jesus’ death paid for the price of our sins.
Romans 10:9, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Because of Jesus’ death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting His death as the payment for our sins - and we will be saved!

Romans 5:1 has this wonderful message, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Through Jesus Christ we can have a relationship of peace with God.

Romans 8:38-39, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

We hope that each person who reads this will come to know and believe these same truths and live lives that bring honor to God.
