Merry Christmas to those that celebrate, happy holidays, or simply a good Saturday to your preference

These honestly in my opinion rather middling photos don't do justice to the crepes I made for lunch today

Leftovers and other packaged foods for some reason didn't feel right to me for today

After scratching my head staring at the fridge, I remembered that with eggs and flour, I had everything I needed to make crepes

Some ham in the freezer, onions, and a few mushrooms sealed the deal

Fairly quickly I was able to deliver a lovely and special meal got my parents and brother

Grateful for safety, warmth, and readily available ingredients

To many good meals today and into 2022

Made bread today after a long while

No recipe, but I had a scale,a ratio, and a basic memory of the rough time and temperature to use

All things considered, pretty good

Thinking I'll make this my food + homesteading account

Pottery and major life events on

Anyway, got motivated enough to start stockpiling more firewood before winter gets started in earnest

Got a bit of help from a neighbor, and really flexed some muscles using both an electric and gas powered chainsaw

A good afternoon well spent, and I have to say the view is a bit improved as well

Well, it's been long overdue, but here is the first post for this new account!

I'm off in Oakdale, managing the homestead such as it is, and while I'm working on developing my own crops to use later, there is plenty already here to use, thanks to my dad's efforts, as well as the previous owners planting

One of the things just pointed out to me is that we have not one, but two pecan trees

Was hard to see them at first, but after a bit of staring my eyes got used to it and I was picking one pecan after another

I've got a few decent handfuls, but I'll take a pole out in upcoming days to knock some more down

Aside from the classic toasting, how else do you like to treat and eat pecans?

A new post! A rare update to the blog with a recipe. https://www.acookandageek.com/2019/02/08/happy-new-year-chard-taco-recipe/

Leaning towards eating more vegetables today, any suggestions for other things for me to work with?

Hey everyone, it’s been a bit but I’ll avoid the blogger trap and spare you the life story. (If you actually are curious, hit me up on Twitter or Instagram!) So instead, happy new year everyone, bo…

Hey followers! Facebook insists I have visitors, so hello!

Some updates about me right now, I've relocated to Portland to have a place of my own, to have some space to take stock, and think.

I'm looking forward to the next phase of things. How are you all doing?

After a long hiatus, I'm back with a post. Hopefully a drink will cool any sadness over my absence.

After a long hiatus, I'm back with a post. Hopefully a drink will cool any sadness over my absence.

At the old job, it was hardly a secret was quite known for enjoyment of mixology, and I never really minded sharing. Having a lot of people to “keep watered” as the kids used to say, co…

Happy summer folks! (At least in the northern hemisphere!)

If you're up for grilling something new, I recommend you try out this recipe I wrote for Author Daniel Swensen

http://www.acookandageek.com/2016/05/31/etheric-recipe-2-grilled-lamb-on-flatbread/

Grilled meat, grilled bread, and cool yogurt make this dish a well-balanced way to kick off the summer A bit of friendly note, this is a very meat centric post, so if that isn’t quite your th…

It's perhaps a bit late to say this, but happy autumn everyone! Here's a cocktail to keep you in the mood.

http://www.acookandageek.com/2016/10/23/a-cocktail-for-fall-the-kentucky-moose/

A classic drink with a maple twist As Autumn has comfortably settled in for those of us in the Northern hemisphere, I think it’s the proper time to share a recipe that I devised at work, beca…
