Meet Oberon, one of our purebred shorthorn steers born on 3/16. This is a budget friendly steer we intended to keep and feed out ourselves, but we've gotten a lot of interest in calves out on pasture this year so we wanted to offer him briefly before show ownership deadlines for 2️⃣👌👌👌. Price is firm, but the more we put into him the more it will go up. Out of state buyers pay for health papers. Video posted is what's available. Come see him, and if you're interested bring a trailer as it's first come first serve, no holds. Available mid June. Fremont, OH

Trying to sneak Sudangrass in between rain showers 🌦️. We started feeding Sudan a few years back and the cows love it. They’ll even pick it over our usual mostly-alfalfa hay. It keeps them in better body condition through winter and produces a surprising amount of tonnage for an annual. It’s not super common, but worth a look if you want high yield. It can be tricky to dry; some people wet-wrap it instead, but we don’t have the setup for that. Since it’s from Africa it handles dry spells surprisingly well. We’re doing nutrient testing this year to see how it stacks up to our other hay.

A few years ago we established a rotational grazing system and it’s become part of how we do things. Moving cows through smaller paddocks has let the grass rest and recover, and we now spend far less time feeding hay. We’re still working on improving forage tonnage, but the system has already cut hay and harvest costs and created a more natural environment for cows and calves. The animals are holding better condition, and the time saved on hauling and feeding lets us focus on other tasks. Start small, watch pasture recovery, and adjust rest periods; the payoff can be financial, practical, and most important, better for the herd.

New tags coming soon thanks to Rawhide Fabrication! I’ve been making my own tags when needed but they haven’t held up as well as I hoped. Decided to spring for some laser engraved tags. Great people to work with, highly recommend!

Prospect show steer available! 75% Shorthorn Plus with papers, sired by Lights Out (Top Dog PB Shorty) out of a deep, big b***d, hairy MAB cow. Unfortunately we do not have a working scale so cannot give weight. Born February 24th, he can be weaned next weekend for ownership deadlines. He was started on creep a few weeks ago. 2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ out of the pasture (not broke). Photos & video provided are all I have, so if you're sincerely interested come see him. What’s in the post or comments is what’s available. Fremont, OH

Our first two 2026 calves went to their new homes yesterday. They are feeder calves for the Fields family to show at Erie County Fair. They did such a nice job with their calf from us last year and we can’t wait to see how they do with this pair!

Please be patient and give trucks, tractors, and any vehicles pulling trailers plenty of room. Especially on two-lane roads and at intersections. Tractors and farm equipment often lack the safety features modern cars have (no airbags, limited lighting, fewer or no mirrors, and many older tractors lack rollover protection and seatbelts), and drivers pulling long loads have severely limited visibility and much less ability to stop or swerve quickly.

I’ve had too many close calls by people passing in no‑passing zones or squeezing by at intersections. I want to get home to my family just like you want to get where you’re going.

🐌 Please slow down when you see slow‑moving signs or flashers.

🛣️ Wait for a safe, legal place to pass. Don’t risk a blind intersection or no‑passing zone.

⚠️ Give extra space when a trailer or implement is being pulled; it may be wider or track differently than it looks.

🌗 Be extra cautious at dusk/dawn and on rural roads.

Few quick facts: collisions involving farm vehicles are a small fraction of crashes but are disproportionately severe. Studies find farm to vehicle crashes are several times more likely to result in serious injury or death than typical road crashes, and tractor overturns remain a leading cause of farm fatalities.

Be patient — it could save a life.
