We’ve had a lot of pigs selected by families both local and from other states - THANK YOU! We’re pretty old school in how we do things - not a lot of flash or pizazz - we simply try to make pigs that will work in anyone’s barn!

That said, we aren’t sold out yet…but options are starting to thin out - especially on the crosses (a few light colored cross gilts is about it). We do still have some Chesters, Spots, and Yorks running around but not a ton of them - some of those are going to be from younger litters that maybe aren’t ideal if you have an early fair or want to jackpot, but they’ll be fine and fresh looking come state fair season if that’s more your target. Also have a couple Duroc barrows still available.

If you’re still looking for a last minute addition let us know and we’ll be happy to show you what all we have left in the pens. We’ll either have what you’re looking for or we won’t…either way we’ll try to help!

Thanks again and we look forward to hearing results from everyone later this summer!!

Was looking for something else and came across a picture we snapped of a litter 1 boar the same day we snagged the pic of the boar we shared a few days ago.

This one has a bit more of a ‘show’ look to him - he’s heavier b***d, wider coming and going, a bit more extension. He’s maybe not quite as deep bodied but that’s getting picky for an outside hog pulled from a grower pen with a bunch of other boars living thru an Iowa winter. Had we gone to Belton we may have put him in the trailer 🤷‍♂️. Like the boar we showed the other day, this guy’s also sired by Faded Genes. Dam was sired by Elbow Grease, a WD-40 x Perfect Fit son we purchased from the Brown Family (OH) a couple summers ago. Maybe not as unique pedigree-wise but an interesting comparison of how the Faded Genes stuff worked on two very different blood lines on the sow side.

We don’t have nearly as many Chesters as we used to but we still keep plugging away at making them the way we like them!

Had this litter 2 boar out on the drive a couple weeks ago and snapped a few pics. Is he super short backed? No. Is he the heaviest b***d? No. Does he have excessive ‘shag’? No. So what does he have going for him? Well…in the Chester White breed, find a boar with more of an outcross pedigree. I’m sure there’s one out there somewhere but it’ll be hard to find. And if you do find it, let us know!

No Custom Made or Box Office in the pedigree. Which means no WD-40 or Perfect Fit or Delta or Making Waves or Making Deals or Pit Master in his pedigree. The mother of the boar we called Triple Play (dam side of this guy) was sired by a boar we called Big Bore…who was a Hit The Road Jack son. So just a single shot of Jack in the Box five generations back. He’s basically a unicorn bloodline in today’s Chester breed and one even we can no longer make! He was intentionally made to be different over many years! But having a unique pedigree isn’t all he is…he’s structurally correct, everything goes in the right direction on the move, carries his muscle well. He maybe doesn’t have the extreme ‘ests’ but he’s an all around complete hog. And he’s backed by several generations of productive females to boot. 🤷‍♂️

We’ve done an incredibly bad job this spring of getting things rounded up and pictured - it was a lot easier when the kids were little and not involved in as many things to get things done. Oh well, they’re only young once so those things are frankly more important 🤷‍♂️

We’re getting geared up tonight to be ready to hit the road tomorrow to the Banner Bound sale with our friends at Pink Genetics. (Flyer attached as comment.) Lots of success stories have come out of this sale around southern Iowa and northern Missouri over the years and we anticipate the same here in 2026!!

A couple different ones we’re bringing - and we obviously spared no expense on quality photography 😂. Those that have been thru the barn have commented on these dark crosses (as well as a couple littermates that we aren’t bringing). These two are sired by Sport Mode (Lean Value) back on a Gotcha Lookin sow (forst litter) that the daughter/granddaughter showed last summer. We don’t keep many crosses around but after watching her kick out pigs in every direction imaginable with zero help, she gets to stay! (The belted one is a gilt, the all black one is a barrow.)

Be in Douds tomorrow night!

Sorted off a couple crosses and a couple red ones for the Banner Bound sales next Friday in Douds. We’ll get them cleaned up before the sale but for sure sorted off a pair of dark crosses, a couple light crosses, and a couple Duroc barrows. These will be smaller/younger than much of what is listed online at the moment but they’ll be nice and fresh looking come county/state fair season!

Load ‘n Go pigs available off the farm as well!

Excited to be invited back to the Banner Bound sale a little over a week from today! We’re planning on bringing a couple crosses, a couple red ones, and maybe even a Chester or two!

Swing down to Douds next Friday to check them out along with the set that the crew at Pink Genetics has put together!

We’ve been busy vaccinating everything and if our math is right, there is somewhere around 150 pigs running around between 2-3 different pens/barns - with makes, models, and colors to suit just about anyone 😂

Just a reminder that we are a dealer for Smidley waters and feeders!

NEW!! The picture below is a small, two hole portable waterer that holds 40ish gallons made out of stainless steel. We use these in the farrowing house when we start the weaning process of introducing pellets and water while pigs are still on the sow. But pigs can easily stay on them for a while until ready to transition to a normal ground mount, cup, or ni**le waterer.

We have used older models like this for several years. Smidley stopped making them a while ago - but they’re back and better than before. Previous models were steel units, painted in Smidley orange - the new ones are stainless! Yes, they’re a little more money, but they’ll last a lifetime!

Fun fact - this is the very first one off the line (designed with pictures and measurements provided from our older units) and it was in use minutes after this picture was taken.

If we can help you with one of these, or a ground waterer, or a feeder give us a call! Quality products made right here in Iowa!!

It won’t be long before pigs start heading out to new homes for summer projects (there are dozens of auctions every night already). Our oldest set just hit the chips and will be ready to roll in 4-6 weeks (end of Feb/early March). If you’re looking for something specific, let us know so we can see what might fit. We have a list started of those that have already reached out - the sooner we know, the sooner we can find matches!!

A couple notes:
* we aren’t going to have many Duroc gilts - litters were all barrow heavy
* we aren’t going to have many Spot gilts - litters were all barrow heavy
* Crosses are tilted toward the light cross side - didn’t get as many belts as expected with this crop

There will be plenty to pick thru and we can often put packages together if we know what mix of pure vs. cross and barrow vs. gilt - just let us know how we can help this summer!

These Guts N Glory sired pigs (Lean Value Sires) are stout for no older than they are 😳. The pigs all came almost all white. Some grey on their heads and that’s about it. The sow is a pure York so that explains no belts but got very little color at all 🤷‍♂️
