West Road Dairy

Directions

West Road Dairy Seth and Erin Anderson Owners/Operators. Established January 1, 2011. We milk 60 cows in a 36 stall stanchion barn that was built in 1905.

We have a combination of Holstein, Jersey, dairy breed crossbred and a few Guernseys. The cows face in, so we switch out one whole side of the barn once or twice depending on how many dry cows we have. Cows are housed outside in sheds with bedpacks during the winter, and on pasture during grass season. We raise all our own replacement heifers. We rent facilities and purchase feed from Seth's parents. We have dreams of buliding a freestall barn with parlor in the future. We became certified organic in 2014.

When you fill the alfalfa box full only to test it and realize the meters are plugged up. 🤦. So get the shop vac and suck out the seed, dig around and blow out the meter, then pour the seed back in. We'll get to seeding..... eventually.

Twins! I wonder if they're identical? 🤔

Vet mentioned at last preg check on a set of twins coming next year that they could be identical because of how it looked in ultra sound. So we'll see then how close the markings are to each other.

Mixing feed the other day and running down silage. Also a look at the progress with setting up for the feed robot. It'll park and fill under that roof area. Got 2 flex augers in place so far.

Found a weak spot in the tandem. 😩 First load, with a pit that was full yesterday. Managed to drag it backwards through the field with another tractor to get the load unloaded.
