If you’re shocked that a little farm brewery in the middle of Coshocton County Ohio (Fresno, OH, Pop. 183 at the 2020 census) would be our # 1 overall seed, then you haven’t been paying attention since they opened in 2018. Kevin Ely, ex of Uinta Brewing in Utah moved back to his wife’s childhood home to open a farm brewery focused on making the best German style lagers possible (he spent time in Germany learning from some of the best). Mission accomplished. There’s very few breweries in Ohio making more beloved, true to style classic lagers than Wooly Pig Farm Brewery, and that’s where the market seems to be heading back to as some craft beer drinkers have tired of trendy hazy IPAs, fruit filled sours, and adjunct laden stouts (though there still IS a ton of love for all of the above as the beer representations featured over the last three weeks worth of posts attests). But sometimes you just want a beer flavored beer, and few are doing them as well as this destination brewery on a hillside farm in Coshocton County. It’s a drive that’s always worth making for beers that are like a taste of Bavaria itself. Their entry, with over 1200 ratings, is a classic schwarzbier. The 4.4% ABV brew is a smooth, flavorful black lager with dark chocolate, coffee, and wood smoke. 3.90 average rating.

With OVER 1400 ballots submitted, we’ve got a small shakeup in the Top Ten. Three of the four # 1 Seeds are the same as yesterday, but dang can Wooly Pig Farm Brewery’s fans get out the vote. They’ve moved from Top 15 yesterday into the # 4 overall seed. If voting ended today Masthead Brewing Co. would be the #1 seed in Cleveland Region, Fat Head's Brewery in the East, Missing Mountain Brewing Co. in the West, and Wooly Pig in South of 76.
