Sugar Snow has arrived the last few days! Thick, fluffy snow in March has been know as Sugar Snow since it helps keep the forests cooler and extends sap runs for maple producers.

I'm sure many are loving this warm weather! However it's not great for maple production. Nights below freezing and days above freezing are best for sap flow. Hoping it cools down soon before the maple trees bud out. Red maples tend to bud earlier than Sugar maples and we have both in our sugarwoods.
